Hitler was known as antisemitic, a person who despised Jewish people. So, when he came to power, he decided to use the government to target innocent Jews. Hitler's approach to making Jewish people secluded from the rest of German society included discriminatory laws and organized violence targeting them. He soon enacted his diabolical “Final Solution,” now known as the Holocaust, where more than 6 million Jews were sent to concentration camps and killed without explanation.

Although France had a large amount of military power, they were still overwhelmed by Germany's tactics. To quickly conquer parts of France, Hitler used a tactic called blitzkrieg, or lightning war. The strategy involved maneuverable forces, tanks, and air forces that lead to a swift victory without losing too many soldiers or artillery. Since Germany was able to take over much of western Europe including the Netherlands and Belgium using this technique, France didn't have much they could do.

The Battle of Britain is the most important battle in WWII. After Hitler conquered France, he moved on to Great Britain, which was going to be difficult to invade as they had the defensive advantage of being separated from the continent by the English Channel. To counter, Germany bombed Great Britain in order to try and destroy their air force and prepare for an invasion. It started on July 10th, 1940, and lasted many months as Germany kept bombing the country. After many attempts of trying to get Britain to surrender, Hitler changed tactics and decided to bomb large cities such as London. On September 15th, Germany launched a large bombing attack on the city of London. Although Hitler thought he had won the battle with this act, the British Royal Air Force defeated many of the German planes due to the fact that Britain had radars. This caused Hitler to retreat, giving a victory to Great Britain
