After solving the problems individually, the students further demonstrate their understanding through written explanation. Following this, I have the students discuss with their table their findingsand then we come back together as a class.

Janette: I like to use Khan academy during numeracy lessons. The demonstrations are very clear, especially for visual learners. Students use whiteboards a lot during mental Maths lessons and I get them to actually 'show their working out'. Students also work together to solve problems. Mathletics is an ongoing thing in PYP6. At the moment we are starting a unit on Multiplication and Division and the students in their Maths groups are doing a Pre-Assessment. After each question they rate how they found that question (green) if they found it easy.. ready to move on, orange if they needed time to think and remember and red if it was hard and they needed to build their prior knowledge. As a teacher, you can see how they progress throughout the unit..
