Who Am I?

Who am I? This is one of the most deep and eternal questions that we may ask ourselves. It's not just about our name, age, or occupation. It's a question that delves deeper into our core - our beliefs, interests, experiences, and purpose. But the beauty is in its openness; no two replies are the same, and each answer is unique to you.

Hi, I’m John Rhey Macase, but most people know me by my nickname, Macky - it’s what I go by every day. I’m 19 years old and the eldest of two siblings in our family. Being the older one has its challenges and joys, but it’s taught me responsibility and the value of setting a good example. People often describe me as a happy, outgoing person who loves connecting with others.

As an extrovert, I thrive in social settings, sharing laughter and spreading joy. Yet, like everyone, I have my quieter moments when I take a step back to reflect and recharge. I’m currently a second-year college student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. It’s a demanding yet rewarding field, and I’m constantly striving to grow, learn, and work toward my dream of becoming a licensed electrical engineer. Of course, the road ahead isn’t without its uncertainties, but I believe in pushing forward, one step at a time. Beyond my academic journey, I’m someone who finds joy in making others smile.

Life can be tough, but if I can brighten someone’s day - even for a moment - I feel like I’ve made a difference. At the core of it all, I’m just a curious individual with big dreams, unwavering determination, and a deep desire to contribute something meaningful to the world.

My Biggest Fear?

Fear is a powerful emotion that shapes how we approach life, challenges, and the unknown. Time is an ever - moving force, and while it is said to heal and guide, for me, it also carries a deep and personal fear - the fear of losing track of it. My biggest fear is not just the passage of time but the possibility of losing myself within it, drifting aimlessly in a vast abyss where purpose and direction seem out of reach.

There’s something profoundly unsettling about imagining a future where I am disconnected from my aspirations, my identity, and the person I strive to become. The thought of waking up one day and realizing I don’t know what to do with my life anymore is a fear that lingers in the back of my mind. It’s a fear of stagnation, of being caught in a cycle where the days pass by unnoticed, and my dreams slowly fade into obscurity.

However, this fear also serves as a motivator. It reminds me of the importance of staying grounded, setting goals, and finding meaning in the little things I do each day. While the unknown can feel daunting, I believe that fear itself is a guide - a signal pushing me to reflect, grow, and stay aligned with what truly matters. My biggest fear isn’t just an obstacle; it’s a reason to keep moving forward, no matter how uncertain the path ahead may seem.

What Keeps Me Going?

Life is a journey filled with challenges, uncertainties, and moments of self - doubt. Yet, what truly defines us is our ability to keep moving forward. What keeps me going? It’s the unwavering hope for a better future. More than just a dream, it’s a driving force that fuels my determination. At the heart of this hope is my family - especially my parents. Despite not being wealthy, they have worked tirelessly to support me. Their sacrifices have allowed me to pursue an education and even attend college. Knowing how much they’ve given, despite the challenges they face, makes them the number one reason I must and need to keep going in life.

I am deeply motivated to give my parents the life they truly deserve. I want to provide them with the comforts they’ve missed out on because of our circumstances. Whether it’s giving them the things they’ve always wanted but couldn’t afford, treating them to their favorite meals, or taking them to places they’ve dreamed of visiting - I want to make these a reality for them.

Beyond that, I strive for a better life for myself. I want to build a future where I can look back and see how far I’ve come, knowing that I’ve turned our struggles into stepping stones. My parents’ support and the vision of a brighter tomorrow are what keep me grounded and motivated to keep pushing forward, no matter how tough life gets.
