Dr. Seuss’ real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. He was a cartoonist and writer who published over 60 books in his lifetime. His two most famous books are The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. He was most famous for his colorful illustrations, creative rhymes, and interesting characters. He attended Dartmouth College, where he was the editor-in-chief of its humor magazine, Jack-o-Lantern, and started using the pseudonym, Seuss. Then he attended the University of Oxford with plans of becoming a professor, but he eventually dropped out and pursued cartooning full-time. During WWII, he published political cartoons for PM Magazine and made animated training films and propaganda posters for the Treasury Department and the War Production Board. After the war, he published his first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, which was rejected 27 times before it was published by Vanguard Press in 1937. After that, he began to write all the books that we all know and fell in love with. Some of his books were transformed into animated movies like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Horton Hears a Who!, and The Lorax. For his amazing works, he has won the 1984 Pulitzer Prize, an Academy Award, 3 Emmys, and 3 Grammys. Although he has passed, his work is shared and beloved by thousands of people worldwide.

Biography.com Editors.

For this project, the students will be given an outlined shape of the Grinch. They will color the Grinch and the background with the use of colored pencils, crayons, markers, or paint. They will then cut out a heart-shaped heart, and on it, they will write down one or multiple things they are grateful for or love during Christmas time. This activity will be assigned after we watch the animated movie "The Grinch". Students will have the class time to finish it, and if they don't, they can take it home. This is an individual assignment, but they are able to talk with their neighbors if they need help with it.
