Are having multiple lowbrow copycat media products necessarily bad?

Understandably there is demand for lowbrow media products as no one can enjoy only highbrow media. A somewhat balance of the two are needed. However is there anything inherently wrong about lowbrow media in comparison to highbrow media? Should there be / could there be/ is there some sort of regulation concerning the multitude of lowbrow media products made? i.e how there's so many being made out and they are all similar

Where do you see the future of user-generated content in the next 5 years?

I see user-generated content in the next 5 years possibly being more curated, professional and that platforms such as Instagram be seen as formal way of posing personal branding. On Instagram, for example, social media influencers are particular about how their Instagram feeds look like, their Instastories, and IGTV videos - ensuring they are a certain colour scheme and follow their "brand" and style. Photos posted on a feed go through filtering and editing processes for them to look as professional and pleasing to the eye as possible. Photos aren't just taken and posted without thought. Having a carefully curated feed is of such an importance now and serves as an informal but formal portfolio that speaks volumes about an individual as a brand or image. I think that having a "picture perfect" Instagram feed will become the new norm and that user-generated content will no longer be just something that you post for the fun of it unless it contributes to the image of the individual. In the next 5 years, I expect Instagram to be a formal personal branding, marketing platform even more so than it is now, and for content quality to only increase.

Why do you trust or distrust the print newspaper?

Traditional print media is more credible and therefore more trustworthy. Before news gets to be printed in a newspaper, it has to go through a process of checked and re-checked by various editors at various levels. I trust print newspaper because its more established and unlike social media, news can’t be easily deleted so it is more trustworthy in that sense.

I distrust print newspaper because it is dated. Newspaper companies may by associated with the government allowing for news to be slightly bias unlike on social media platforms where content is a little more “modern” and less traditional.

1. Will movie theatres still exist in 2030? How do you envision the film watching experience in near future?

I think they will still exist because people out there appreciate the movie going experience. If anything, I imagine there being a new improved and innovative drive in kind of cinema as people are taking interest in that.

2. The major broadcast networks have been losing viewers for the past two decades. Will they still be relevant 10 years from now? Why or why not.

I cannot imagine them being obsolete and I still think that people have interest in cable television especially the older generation. It may still be relevant in 10 years time but perhaps not so in 30 years time.
