I am using my assignment, Revolutions Inquiry Project and Paper revision to demonstrate independence. In this assignment, I had to construct an effective argument and seek out and use resources. This assignment demonstrates my growth because at the beginning of the semester, I didn't know what a claim was or how to make a basic claim. Currently, I give myself a B grade in this area. I give myself this grade because I can make a clear claim but I couldn't support it with all the evidence I had provided. My goal for next semester to be able to write a claim that is arguable, clear and complex and can be supported with the evidence I provide.

I am using my assignment, Everyday Use characterization tracker, to demonstrate my ability to value evidence. In this assignment I had to cite specific evidence when offering oral or written interpretation of the text because I had to find relevant evidence that shows Maggie, Mama and Dee's sources of pride and shame. This assignment demonstrates my growth because at the beginning of the semester, I didn't know how to use relevant evidence when supporting a claim or argument. Currently, I give myself a C grade in this area. I give myself this grade because I never have enough to back up my claim. My goal for next semester is to be able to find at least 3 pieces of evidence to help support my claim or argument because a claim must always be supported with evidence to prove that what you are claiming is correct.

I am using my assignment, Industrial Revolution Storyboard to demonstrate my ability to build strong content knowledge. In this assignment, I had to refine and share my knowledge about the industrial revolution through my writing and and become proficient in new areas through research and study. This assignment demonstrates my growth because at the beginning of the semester,I couldn't establish basic knowledge on the topics we were learning about. Currently I give myself a C grade in this area because I can establish basic knowledge on a topic but I still have some difficulty sharing my content knowledge through my writing and speaking. My goal for next semester is to be able to communicate my content knowledge through my writing and when I speak.

I am using my assignment, socratic seminar to demonstrate my ability to respond to the varying demands of an audience. In this assignment I had to adapt communication based on the topic we were talking about which was the question, what makes a successful revolution? This assignment demonstrates my growth because at the beginning of the year, I couldn't adjust my language according to the topic we were discussing. I currently give myself a C grade in this area because I am still not aware of the types of evidence I must use for my work. My goal for next semester is to be able to adapt my communication style and academic language according to my discussion.

I am using my assignment, DCE Thinglink to demonstrate my ability to use technology and digital media strategically and capably. In this assignment I had to be familiar strengths and limitations of technological tools in order to complete a project. This assignment demonstrates my growth because I have expanded my knowledge of tools that can enhance and improve my learning. Currently I give myself an A in this area. I give myself this grade because I can quickly learn how to use technology and find ways to use that technology to my advantage in order to help improve my learning. My goal for next semester is to find more tools that can help further enhance my learning.

I am using my assignment, Things Fall Apart Socratic seminar graphic organizer, to demonstrate my ability to come to understand other perspectives and cultures. In this assignment I had evaluate other points of view by discussing the question, How does Okonkwo's idea of masculinity lead to him misunderstanding his culture or mistreating people around him. This assignment demonstrates my growth because in the beginning of the semester, I would evaluate other people's points of view as incorrect and only think mine is correct. Currently I give myself a B grade in this area. I give myself this grade because I now keep an open mind on other people's point of view on a specific topic. My goal for next semester is to try to understand another person's point of view .

I am using my assignment, How to Write About Africa, to demonstrate my ability to comprehend and critique. In this assignment, I had to ask questions about tone and what the author meant when he was stating something specific in his article. This assignment demonstrates my growth because at the beginning at the semester I didn't know what it meant to critique and I never realized when I was using this skill in my learning. Currently I give myself an A grade in this area because I now know when I am using this skill and my learning and can use it outside of school. My goal for next semester is to be open minded about the texts I am critiquing and try to find reasons behind the author's writing and speaking .
