The confederate's goal of the Battle was to try and hold their territory together while the union was trying to gain supplies.

Florida contributed many food supplies to the civil war but mainly salt and beef. One of florida's strategies was to keep Florida's roads and rivers protected so that the supplies can get safety north. There was about 15,000 - 16,000 troops from Florida who fought in the civil war. Most of these troops were in the confederacy but some joined the union too. The confederacy army believed it was right to have slavery while the union wanted to get rid of slavery.

Florida was very involved in the civil war because they had many battles that occurred there. These battles resulted in a loss of supplies and their land getting destroyed. In order to regain everything that they have lost they would have to use their own money to fix it. Thankfully in one major battle called the battle of olustee, they gained back their supplies and their army was stronger, which could be useful in future battles and wars.

Florida was affected by the war in a good way because when they went to secede the Pensacola navy yard, they left with a stronger and bigger army compared to the union troops. The confederates had excellent teamwork and deserved this win for their tribe. For example from battles in the past, they lost many things but gained it all back so this helped them while seceding the navy yard. Since they had a stronger and bigger army and more supplies when they left, this gave them many advantages for the time ahead.

Governor Madison Starke Perry was an important member of the civil war because he gave the confederates many advantages. For example he felt like he needed more troops to be able to win over the union's forts and guns. So he sent troops to secede the Pensacola navy yard and left with a very strong army and gained supplies from seizing the Chattahoochee arsenal. He didn't do anything political but still managed to give the confederates the victory.

Florida was involved in The Battle of Tampa on june 30-july 1st 1862 in tampa Florida. In this battle the confederates were trying to protect their village of forts. This was important because they had all of their supplies in the forts that they weren't trying to give away. On the other hand the union wanted to take Tampa because it was a seaport where commerce and goods could supply the confederates. This was important because the union wanted to stop the trading from the confederates so that they wouldn't have the opportunity to get more supplies. The union fired there cannons at the fort and later withdrew or "quit". So we can say that the confederates took this victory during the battle of Tampa. This battle resulted with the confederates and the union both having no causalities.

Brigadier general Joseph Finegan was an important member of the civil war because he helped keep the confederates together and successfully completed all of the tasks that he was given. Governor perry assigned him to handle all of Florida's military affairs. This is important because he handles the military decisions and roles. Also during the battle of olustee he fought extremely hard against the union and received lots of credit for his hard work. During this time general Robert e Lee brought him to Virginia and made him in charge of keeping everyone together. He succeeded and kept the confederates strong.
