Easter celebration is important in Poland. I start my preparations with baking cakes because I enjoy it very much. The must for me are a pound cake and Polish “mazurek” – a cake with caramel and plenty of raisins, dried plums, apricots and walnuts. On Easter Saturday I prepare a Easter basket with food that is brought to church to be blessed, usually painted eggs called in Polish “pisanki”, a piece of sausage, salt and pepper, bread, a pound cake, and an Easter Lamb made of sugar. This blessed food is an integral part of festive breakfast on Easter Sunday.

Palm Sunday

commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry to Jerusalem. It is the end of Lent and the beginning of the Holy Week. On Palm Sunday, colorful “palm trees,” traditionally decorated with dried flowers, kitkats and green plants, are brought into churches.

A unique festival takes place on the market square of Lipnica Murowana on Palm Sunday every year, where local people compete to make the tallest palm. Some palms can reach a height of more than 30 meters.

Easter food in Italy

In the North of Italy, the "Colomba" is the most famous dessert, a dove-shaped bread made with almonds, sugar and eggs. Today this cake is known all over the world. Another northern tradition is the "Pinza Pasquale" from Trieste, a sweet bread with a three-point cross carved on top.

A Southern Easter tradition is the "Casatiello" from Naples, a salty cake containing cheese, sausage, salami, and even hard-boiled eggs. Sicily has a special kind of Easter cookies. They have different shapes and once made they are given to family members and friends for showing love and bringing good luck.

The folk dancers of our school dress in folk costumes.
The boys bring cold water in a bucket, and they pour it on the girls.
The boys also go a lot of houses to water the girls with rose water.

In Rome (center of Italy), the "Via Crucis" is particularly successful, (the Pope also participates), which take place in front of the Colosseum in a perfect mix of Pagan architecture and Christian rites. In Procida (Campania, south of Italy) on Holy Thursday, at sunset, the procession of the hooded Twelve Apostles takes place.

Easter in Spain is called holy week.
Many Spanish are on holiday during this week and go back home, visit family or just visit new places.
Basically for some Spanish people,Easter is not so special here than in other countries.
But, for me it is a tradition to remember the death of Jesus with tipical food and beautiful parades.

In Murcia we celebrate this at the end of Easter week. The streets of the city are filled with sardineros giving out toys to children and adults. It is a big parade with floats, musicians, acrobats and dancers.

- White borscht
- "Rzeżucha" in Polish
- cakes ("sernik" and "mazurek")

and a lot of other things.

Our Holy Week takes place every year between Dolores Friday and Resurrection Sunday. These days you can see the parades at night that are to remenber the death of Jesus. Some of the traditional meals are Monas and Torrijas.

In the italian catholic tradition there are four holy days. In those days people go to the church three or four times. The first one is on Holy Thursday and in the church there is a special rite: the feet wash. The priest wears a special tunic that simulates the one worn by Jesus in the same rite in the time of the Passion. The next day, the Holy Friday, is the day of the Way of the Cross. There are 14 Stations and at the end the faithfuls can kiss the Cross before it will be placed on the top of the high altar. A tradition of the Holy Friday is to don’t eat meat or rich food. On Saturday evening there is Easter Eve. The Mass is an alternative for the Easter Morning Mass and its particularity is that people pick one candle per person and a big fire is set on outside the church; when all candles are burning, people enter in the church behind the priest. In the Easter Mass the priest and some volunteers read the liturgy, each reading the words of a character of the Passion of Christ.

NAZARENES AND CANDIES

On Easter Thursday and Friday we celebrate a procession of nazarenes who give candies to everybody. In Mazarron nazarenes wear a purple dress with a mask and a pointed hood. The dressers have a bag with candies. The nazarenes are accompanied with drums and trumpets. The origin of the nazarenes is from the city of Nazareth. Happy Easter!

Torrijas are slices of bread bathed in milk. Then they are first coated in egg and fried. They are a typical Easter meal and are usually prepared on Holy Thursday in the afternoon. We make torrijas in Spain with eggs, milk, bread, sugar and cinnamon.

Hello, friends !!!

We are going to talk about Easter in “Mazarrón” and a tradition called “monas de pascua”.

The day of Easter we go with our family to the mountain, to the beach or to another place. This year we went to a natural park in “Caravaca de la Cruz”. Then we eat the “monas de pascua”.

The ingredients are flour, sugar, eggs, boiled egg, milk, lemon juice, salt, butter and yeast.

It is a fantastic Easter dessert.

On Palm Sunday we have a beautiful procession. We carry palms and there is a band of music. The children carry floats with religious symbols. In the afternoon the bands of music go to a square and the major puts a crown on the nazarene sculpture and the bands play music.

It’s delicious.Ingredients : rice, milk, sugar, rind of half a lemon and cinnamon.Preparation : Put the ingredients but not the sugar in the casserole for the fire for 40 minutes and don’t stop to stir. Next, add the sugar and stir for 15 minutes. And finally serve and eat. ENJOY!!!
