Based on the situation in the video, we have found four assumptions within the video. First, the assumption we met is the more group than individual. This assumption is telling the peoples which most of the Malaysian are preferring on group than individual. For example, we will go to toilet together, we will go to class together or we go to food court together. Members in this culture are of more group oriented regard themselves as affiliated to a group based on some common ground. Inside the video which we had shoot lots of peoples at the ground floor of the CLC building and most of them are grouping with their friends. The most important things to prove this assumption which was a group of peoples look like discussing their assignment. Therefore, it was definitely more group than individual had been proved. Normally, in Malaysia culture we prefer to have a democratic spirit. We believe that group is more important than individual because of peoples can exchange their opinions and information as well. Therefore, more group than individual this culture had been formed throughout years.

Moreover, the second assumption may come to polychromic than monochromic in time orientation. For Malaysian the time is not a concrete commodity, punctuality and deadlines are not absolute. Malaysian are seen very different with other countries especially Japan. As we know, Japan is the country which are most look on the punctuality but Malaysian are looking the time as more fluid and without fixed points. Most of the Malaysian are flexible to manage their own time for example they can carry up multiple tasks, priorities and conversation simultaneously. Inside the video, we can saw that it were two girls chit-chat and play hand phone simultaneously. This can be proved as well from the previous example which we used above. Although they are having group discussion but it were some peoples still used their hand phone and laptop during the discussion. Therefore, we can said that this assumption had been succeeded proved and we believed that it was widely spread among the Malaysian.

In addition, the third assumption is about the more religious than secular. As we know, Malaysia are having lots of religious and with 3 major religious throughout the years. Normally, we are either Muslin, Buddhist or Hinduism and this is the reason Malaysia are having the most holiday throughout the world because of the lots of religious. Government had also encourage this culture to be spread to the new generation as well. Normally, we can saw lots of temple at each town in Malaysia and it was a proved than we are having more religious than secular. Religious is very important among the Malaysian because of the GOD giving us the purpose and mission in life and it helps instill discipline, good behavior and peace as well. Inside the video, we had shoot that it were some of peoples go to pray in the mosque and around 1 minute it were 3 peoples go to the mosque. Therefore, this was definitely telling us that Malaysian are more religious than secular.

Last but not least, the forth assumption is about more high context than low context during the communication. Normally, the high context cultures is represented the modes of non-verbal communication and the use of imprecise and ambiguous language can carry lots of meaning. For example, we will mostly use the head, hands or eyes to represent the words we want to say. Inside the video, we had taken a secret shoot from a group of Indian and Malay friends during them are chatting. Definitely, we can saw that they are always using their hands and eyes to cut down what they want to say. Normally, the high context can been only formed among the group of friends. Because just only the friends can know what they want to say with you. Although, the high context is difficult to represent it but we still want to highlight the culture of the high context in Malaysia.

As a conclusion, although we had only take down 4 assumptions from the situation which we had recorded. But it can proved that those assumption are actually been seeded inside the Malaysia for long time ago. These assumptions can been also to represent to act as a Malaysian as well.

Based on the Malaysia cultural assumption are describe as Malaysian values have gone through different processes of diffusion and acculturation. Therefore, there are some assumption we can often see in our daily life. Here we are taking a video to explain and proof the assumption for our daily seen. We are taking a short video about the playing the football to show the some assumption always been looking in our multicultural country.

More group than individual

Football game not an individual game, it is a team game. To play a match of football, we need to have 22 person including the goalkeeper to run a match. All the team member have their role to play in a match. All the team member must be teamwork and tolerant with each other to win a competition. There is very least of the possibility to win a team fight with only one teammate or every team member just take care on their own. Therefore, the important that more group than individual to leading the team toward to the goal. In short, Football is a sport that can let us to see a group of people working hard and fight for a goal and achieve it. In the short video are clearly show that how a group of people to win a competition with the teamwork.

More relationship than task orientation

In the football match that related concept to harmony. More relationship orientation meaning that they are more care about the feeling of each of the teammate rather than to win the competition but hurt the feeling of the member or opponents. It show from the very beginning of the match start, the each of group member must be shaking hand with the opponent and this action is giving a big respectful and friendly to them. This action can be expression a concept of friendship first, competition second. They show that they are respect to each other and having fun in the competition, not just only to win the match. Moreover, in short video show that when the player are mistake to pass the ball to other team, they are not blame of his and scolding of him. This kind of attitude are behave they are take care the relationship with each other more than competition. They believe that it is only by understanding and having a “feel” for the other party that they are able to live and work with them.

More high context than low context

The high context and low context are describe as culture based on how explicit the messages exchanged are and how much the context means in certain situations. Most of the people are frequently to use the high context in their daily communication with each other such as communication with parent, friend and teammate, brother and sister. This is because they are the most nearest person who meet every day with ourselves. So they can get know what of the meaning from us without saying any word and it is just only eye contact. In our short video show that how a high context communication letting the teammate to connect each other to achieve a goal in a match. They are using the hand and the eye context of even a body action to mention their team member and let them know what will them going to do for the next step. Actually, the most common seen the high context in the football competition. This is because they do have must of time to communication to each other, so they are just only can using the high context to remind them what will going to do later.

Description:

In this video, we have showed 3 Malaysian assumptions. The first assumption in the video is more shame driven than guilt driven. In the video, we make fun on each other and we not even angry but stronger our relationship. The second assumption is more group than individual.
