Definition: Appeal to authority refers to when a person who is in a position of authority (doctor, police, lawyer) insists their claim is correct simply because they are in a position of authority, without other supporting evidence or credibility.

Connection: The two pieces of evidence I have collected do contradict one another but prove the Red Flag "Appeal to Authority" is true. This fallacy is used in today's society mostly on the topic of whether or not parents should vaccinate their children. Most parents are concerned about their kids getting autism or suffer fatally after catching up on their vaccines. Even though many, many doctors have studied the effects and reliability of vaccines.

Definition: Proof by verbosity means to use more complex arguments so that the other party does not completely understand your points so they assume you are right anyways.

Connection: In the YouTube clip I have chosen, it simply describes the definition of "verbosity". In the clip, Cher, from Clueless, tries to use a higher level of vocabulary and make her argument so complex that her opponent could even argue with her which she achieved.

Connection: Amanda Berry was a young girl who went missing. Her parents were guests of a TV show where Sylvia Browne was a guest as well and she told her parents that Amanda has been murdered, BUT she was found along with two other girls. Unfortunately, her mother had died a few years before that. Amanda has been held captive for 10 years and during that time, her mother had been dealing with lots of grief which could have led to her mother’s death.
