Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, often referred to as the "Missile Man of India," emphasized the importance of creativity in one of his interviews. He described the process of creativity as having four key steps, each building upon the other in a powerful sequence of growth and development:

1. Creativity comes from learning: The foundation of creativity is knowledge. The more you learn, the more you equip your mind to think beyond conventional boundaries.

2. Creativity inspires thinking: Once learning takes place, creativity begins to spark new thoughts, pushing the mind to explore and innovate.

3. Knowledge comes from thinking: Through the process of creative thinking, deeper knowledge emerges. It is not just about acquiring facts but understanding their essence and applying them in new ways.

4. Knowing makes you superior: The culmination of this process is wisdom, where knowledge is transformed into insight. This superior understanding allows one to excel and contribute meaningfully to society.

Kalam's thoughts on creativity were deeply shaped by his childhood experiences. As a young boy growing up during World War II, he witnessed the devastating effects of the conflict through news of widespread bloodshed, suffering, and loss. These early encounters with the harsh realities of war deeply impacted his outlook on life and the human condition. He often reflected on how these experiences taught him the value of peace, resilience, and the need for progress.

He also lived through the momentous time of India gaining independence from British colonial rule. This period of transition, marked by both celebration and struggle, further fueled his desire to contribute to India's development.
