Overview of Tutankhamun

Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh from the years 1332BC - 1323BC. He was the son of Akhenaten and Queen Nefertiti. Tutankhamun was around 9 when he ascended to the throne and he was around 18 when he died. He was supposed to be buried in the valley of the kings, but died before his tomb there was done. He was born with 7 other siblings. No one knows how he died but some theories suggest that he was assassinated.

Tutankhamun's religious policies

King Tutankhamun changed the previously monotheistic beliefs of a singular God, back to the polytheistic beliefs of many Gods and Goddesses. This was a good change, as then the belief system had many more Gods to worship and more religious protection was given to the Egyptians. This also meant that people could have their own beliefs and form religious cults around a singular deity, which in turn became more ways that people could connect over their thoughts and ideas.

Tutankhamun's building program

King Tutankhamun mainly fixed old buildings instead of making new ones during his reign. He seemed more focused on preserving Egypt's history than on brand new projects. Given the short time he ruled and the chaotic nature of the era, it makes sense. While some may say he didn't do much, I think it's important that he cared about Egypt's past. His efforts show a sense of responsibility towards maintaining our cultural heritage.

Tutankhamun's external administration

Tutankhamun was a friendly Pharaoh whom only took back his own land, but was peaceful to everyone else. There is proof of this by a gold knife and a meteorite knife that were found with his body. These were gifts from neighboring countries. I personally think that he was a good ruler as he did not make war and only fought to reclaim lost land. Him having peaceful relations with other countries was also good becaus ehe could have lost of trade.

Tutankhamun's internal administration

Tutankhamun focused on rebuilding the Egyptian lands while he ruled. Many of the nations buildings were rebuilt or restored to their original forms. He changed the religious policies back to the polytheistic beliefs. Tutankhamun was a very important ruler and probably would have been one of the most influential rulers in history if he would have lived longer. I think he ran the country well and he would have been great as a ruler.
