ADMIN

O: 12 ft HE revision PDF, the parts in the list are not organised clearly and were everywhere

R: This confuses the cadets that may find it confusing to memorise for the test

R: The parts can be organised in a clockwise direction around the illustration of the diagram.

CONDUCT

O: Good balance between theory, practical lessons as well as time after last parade really helps consolidate knowledge learned, and helps our cadets who are both visual and hands-on learners to understand the rigging procedures. Instructors also very patient and always willing to demonstrate/explain confusing concepts
R: Having this nice balance helps us grasp what was taught digitally, and having knowledgeable instructors helped when we had on the spot questions to ask
R: Continue doing this practice for future courses

SAFETY

O: cadets were seen using SOG with care, cadets also realised that ammo boxes were heavy and requires at least 2 people to carry. lastly, when instructions were not clear, cadets always seeked clarification first

R: it is very important that cadets use the sog safely as it is required. There were no cuts reported which is very good. Sharing of loads also prevent back injuries. Lastly, we are at a foreign place and it is important to ask questions when not sure

R: cadets should continue this practice or everyone should remind each other once in awhile to prevent anything from happening

CADET

O:Notes were rarely taken while riggers would explain any process
R: Notes can lead to more clarity and would not require cadets to keep asking instructors for the next step
R: Note taking of rigger checks can be done to make it beneficial

O: There was sufficient time between each conduct that gives us time to prepare. (E.g. 1 hour after PT to shower)
R: this allowed us to smoothly transition into the next conduct
R: continue this practice for the next batch

CONDUCT
O: pictures for ADE parachutes are almost the same
R: difficult to recognise and pointless as we are just memorising for the sake of it
R: use different pictures so that it is more recognisable. Or don't test different lengths of parachute using pictures.

Safety:
O: A cadet was seen injured by an ammo crate while he was transporting the ammo crate from the pallet to the airdrop platform.
R: Due to the time limit provided by the instructor, cadets were seen rushing and trying their best to meet the time, however this this is also dangerous as due to the ammo crate being heavy and the platform being elevated, it poses a safety risk for the cadet.
R: Maybe the instructor should provide a more reasonable time limit as although the man power we have is higher than the required amount of rigger to rig a 12 FT HE, the cadets which are beginners are very unfamiliar with the proper techniques to transport and arrange the crates on time.

Others:
O: there were no night snacks indented even though we had night training
R: cadets felt hungry at night and less motivated
R: can indent night snacks if there is night training for other batches

O: Structure of ADOC is good with a smooth progression of theory, practicals and tests.
R: Going through the theory allows better understanding of the practicals as we know the individual parts better. Hands on rigging preps us better for the knowledge test in the end.
R: One more extra day for revision/rest would be much more ideal for the cadets.

Conduct
O: Planning of CET is productive and conducive for the cadets.
R: There is a good balance of work rest cycle implemented through out the trainings.
R: Such flow of Rigger Course should continue for future batches due to the smooth pace.

Safety
O: Good safety are adhered by the cadets such as wearing of helmet.
R: Good safety practices are extremely important and it is good that cadets know the importance of it.
R: Should continue to do so and look for any possible safety breaches too.

Others:
O: There was a poor preparation of the bunks for the cadets for the 2 weeks stay.
R: Bunks and toilets was in filthy conditions which is not ideal for hygiene and power sockets was not sufficient for the cadets to utilise.
R: Bunks can be kept in better conditions and provide extensions for the power sockets.

O: Cadets were given sufficient admin time after last parade to recover from long day of training
R: This will allow cadets to be more ready for the next day of long rigging and it helps them to perform at a higher level
R: Continue to have such RO planned out , as it helps the cadet to be more fresh .

O: 3TPT were very accommodating to all of us even though they had an overseas exercise the same week we had our course
R: This made the cadets more motivated to do our best because we did not want to waste their time
R: Try not to have the course before their overseas exercise if possible, so that they can focus on their exercise

O: There is a lack of learnet wifi

R: This made it difficult to do AOP planning as it could only be done on a singular laptop

R: Provide learnet wifi

O: The training matrix differs for each syndicate

R: this results in inconsistencies in training time for each syndicate. for instance some syndicates did not manage to rig the HE once fully

R: Readjust the training matrix to ensure more equal distribution

Safety

O: The loading of ammo boxes was timed and this caused the cadets to load the loads quickly. An ammo box landed on a cadets’ leg and caused injury to his foot.

R: The need to time the loading of ammo boxes is limited in training value as it is merely a test of the physicality of the cadets

R: There is no need to time the loading of ammo boxes given it’s limited value added to learning

O: Instructors were very helpful and attentive when going through the various stations

R: This facilitated our learning for the hands on part and also the theory test that will be coming up

O: There is 0 accidents due to gross negligence

R: The riggers are very aware of the potential dangers and prevents the cadets from committing them

R: The riggers should keep up reminding the cadets of potential hazards and at the same time ensure our safety due to a new environment

O - The entire 3rd ADOC was planned in a way whereby learning how to rig each different loads and parachutes were not clustered together and well planned.
R - This allowed cadets to properly experience rigging of the loads or the parachute rather than just rushing through the entire process with then whereby it is not helpful.
R - The days whereby cadets rig should be planned in a way that is very similar to this time round.
Safety:
O - For the Heavy Equipment (HE) sector, darcon straps were seen lying around untidily during the practice
R - As a result, some cadets trip on the darcon strap a couple of times when loading and unloading the ammo boxes on the honeycomb
R - cadets can plan out and ensure that there is a proper walkway to safely carry the ammo boxes onto the plaform

O: Cadets put in their best effort to tie the knots as tight as possible which then they neglected their own safety. Cadet finger bled due to friction caused by the tying.

R: As much as the cadet wanting to put in his/her best, he/she has to also be aware and prevent such injuries.

R: To perform tying of knots slowly and with appropriate PPE.

O: Cadets are not very clear of the function of what each of the ADE does

R: Cadets struggle to understand how the air cargo delivery system work clearly or where each of the ADE belong in the load

R: Instead of being taught item by item individually. The ADE could be taught using a diagram of a fully assembled load.

CONDUCT

O: Full Line Bag packing had a 2 extra bags to practice on, and sufficient items needed for each practice, and this packing was the most time consuming one compared to the pilot chute and 28ft chute, which took shorter time to complete

R: This resulted in one syndicate practicing while the other syndicate were resting as they completed the earlier practices already

R: The pilot chute and 28ft chute practice could have been done in turns, while the full line bag packing practice could have consisted of both participating syndicates as there was sufficient stores

O: Cadets from different syndicate have different time spent to practice each of the stations

R: Some syndicate was unable to have sufficient time to practice some of the stations

R: Time should be split more evenly between the syndicate

Conduct

Observation: The lessons were placed before the practical lessons.
Reflection: The back to back lessons allows cadets to understand the theory before hands on to understand better the application of the different ADEs and how it functions in the air drop. However it took a while for the cadets to digest the information as whole.
Recommended: To integrate some of the ADEs into the lesson by having the expandles in the lesson for cadets to visualise the goods. Other than that the program is smooth flowing with no issues for the next batches.
