The first steam locomotive was made by Richard trevithick and was operational from the 21 of February, 1804. This is fun by a steam engine that would need to be fed coal to keep up the steam to rotate the wheels. At first the steam locomotive was only used for transportation of goods, until 1825 when people started to use trains as a means of personal transport. They were transported by trains under the company of Robert Stevenson’s and company. The effects the train had on the industrial revolution were huge as people could buy goods for a lot lower price as the price for transportation was alot  lower. It also meant that people would be able to move from one place to another very quickly.unfortunalty the long term effects of the steam locomotive weren’t very good. Canals otherwise know as navigations are human made waterways or channels. They were made to service water vehicals in delivering goods to a particular area. They were extremely significant due to the inventions of steam boats. The first canals were made in 1776 but we’re not very long and quite thin meaning not many boats could be in the canal. During the early 18th century canals were seen as more important and started to be lengthened and widened.this was a great way to stop people and horses carrying goods over land to get it to its final destination.
In the 18 century 100s of Calais were being made all interlinking giving the boats a greater area to travel. The canals would be connected to open water systems meaning ships could come into a canal from an open body of water. This really effected the price of goods during this time as the price of dropped by alot  as it was easier to transport the goods. The canal did not really have any long term effects but some canals are still used today.

This model steam boat was designed and made by Claude De Jouffory in 1784. He was a French engineer. 

This boat design was made during the industrial revolution and was a time where people and goods needed to be transported. This boat was eventually made into a real size version. This made lots of people rich as they capitalised on the transport.

This shows us that during the industrial revolution people needed faster and more reliable ways to travel and this was one of them. It means more production was happening and transport was just too slow.

The purpose of this is to show the people of the time new ways to travel and new ways to use the steam engine. It was used to design a real steam engine during the industrial revolution but it took alot  of work. It was great for economic and transport reasons and was a big leap in personal transport.

This model was extremely significant as it was the first concept for a steam boat

This was made by Thomas Prichard in 1779 and was the first cast iron bridge. It was in the time of the industrial revolution so it was mainly used for transportation. It meant trains were able to cross over bodies of water.

This would of been used for trains to transport goods over bodies of water. It was also for people to be able to transport to cities or towns they have never been to before as it was across a Bodie of water. It mean factories could sell there goods to a wider spread of audience.

With this bridge we can start to tell people are really trying to travel it also means we can start to see the better inventions we were getting during the industrial revolution.

The bridges allowed factories to be connected directly to towns and cities meaning they could sell there goods but also mean job opportunities as the factory was closer to get to. As the bridge was cast iron it mean that it would withstand almost any natural disaster.

This is extremely significant as it is one of the first cats iron bridges and with that mean more transportation of goods and people. Without this bridge we might not have the bridges we have today.

This train ticket was issued by Centeral Pacific railway in 1876

This is when people started to use trains for train sport with also mean the first time tickets were used. This ticket was from the US which was impacted by the industrial revolution. It gives us an idea of the distance people were traveling in The IR. It also shows how tickets have changed.

It shows that trains were a great way to travel durin the industrial revolution and saw the rise of tickets. Without it we may not have tickets today.
This was made so the conductor of the train wa sable to tell who had paid for their train tickets and who had not.

Before the Industrial revolution people either had to walk or get a horse and cart to transport. During the IR though this all changed as we saw inventions like the steam locomotive steam boat and the steam engine. This mean people could travel alot faster and meant people could get their goods delivered to them.
