Were is the Tropical Rainforest located?

You can see that the tropical rainforest is always located in the equator. Its because is a warm biome. The most famous example is the Amazon rainforest. Also called the lung of the world because produces oxygen for all the planet, it is the most important tropical rainforest on Earth. But that's not the only rainforest, we also have some in the center of Africa, in the South of Asia and a little bit in Australia.

It frecuently stays lower than 34ºc and higher than 20º. The sun hits strong over the higher trees, but below them, near the earth you find the enviroment very dark.

The Tropical Rainforest is one of the most rainy places in the Earth. It rains all-year-round, usually more than 70 inches (around 250 cm of water in a pluviometer).

Water (humidity)

The wet, warm, humid enviroment is ideal to wide variety of plants and animal species. We havent done a specific animal list because there are so many different species that humans haven't still discovered all of them.

Biodiversity (biocenosis)

The 50% of all the living things in our planet are found in the Tropical Rainforest.

Although you can find gigant trees and lots of plants, the soil found here is very thin and poor!

Plants

In each hectare (imagine a big football field) you can find an average of 480 trees!

The 70% of the plants in the Rainforest are trees and the 30% are lower plants.
Adaptations: the soil of the Tropical Rainforest is poor, because when a plant or animal dies, its descomposition goes to de soil and insantaneously is used by another plant. Thats why it is so poor.

Animals

Vertebrates; bright colors, sharp paterns, loud vocalizations and heavy fruit diets.
Invertebrates; bright colors and camuflage skins.

Relation between human and Tropical Rainforest

Once the tropical rainforest ocuppied the 20% of the earth surface, but now it ocuppies only around the 7%.

Nowadays, each minute equals to the cutting of 100 trees, this causes habitats to be destroyed which can destruct a whole ecosytem and its biodiversity.

You may not know, but 1/4 of the medicines that we use cames from the Tropical Rainforest. Thanks to this medicines extracted from there, we can trate for example: Malaria or Cancer.

About these landscape we think that its incredible and full up of vegetation and many different types of animals. This is why we worked a lot to explain these, but we are really upset because of the deforestation we are doing in the Amazon Rainforest. Maybe you didnt realiced it, but according on what we said before, during this explanation, around 1000 of trees were cut in South America.
