Grace started by considering film, but soon realised that she preferred to turn to literature, as the artist needs to bring to life their own images inspired by the written word and ideas in the book.


Grace then started to choose books: she spoke to her English teachers. Mr Allen suggested " The Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad and "Brighton Rock" by Graham Greene. Grace initially chose "The Invisible Man" by H.G. Wells.


Grace then became interested in fairy tales and started to look more closely at earlier, darker versions of fairy tales, by writers such as the Brothers' Grimm.


Although not in itself a fairy tale, Grace turned to Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, as the book has a dream like, magical quality.... what Grace has created is itself, in my opinion, truly magical.
