Reflecting Forward: Strategy, Growth & Collaboration – DXTRO’s Past Two Months

The past couple of months have marked a significant period of reflection and recalibration for me and my collective, DXTRO. After years of trial, error, and experience in the music industry, we’ve come to recognize a crucial truth: consistency isn’t just important — it’s everything when it comes to building and sustaining a fanbase.

Reorganizing the Strategy: Letting Go to Move Forward

One of the key moves we’ve made recently is a strategic shift in how we manage and release our music. For a while, we held back a number of tracks created as far back as 2020, waiting for the “right moment” to drop them. But over time, we realized that in a rapidly evolving musical landscape — particularly in urban pop and trap, where trends can fade within weeks — holding onto tracks for too long means missing the moment entirely.

That’s why we’ve made the conscious decision to start pushing out these older projects. It’s not just about clearing the archives — it’s about clearing space creatively and mentally so we can move forward with fresh, current music that better reflects who we are now. This has already given us momentum and a renewed sense of purpose, allowing us to approach upcoming releases with more energy and clarity.

Learning Through Community and Collaboration

On a personal level, I’ve also been growing through some unexpected opportunities that came from within my school’s network. Thanks to a WhatsApp networking group, I got the chance to work on cleaning and editing a podcast project for someone — a small gig, but one that helped sharpen my audio production skills and build new connections in the media space.

More importantly, I’ve started to truly engage with the people I take classes with. Collaborating with classmates, learning from their perspectives and workflows, and exchanging feedback has been incredibly eye-opening. There’s something powerful about being surrounded by others who are just as hungry to create and grow.

Looking Ahead: Momentum with Purpose

As we move forward, the goal is clear: stay consistent, stay relevant, and stay connected. DXTRO is building toward something bigger, and these past two months have laid the groundwork for the next chapter.

We’re continuing to build relationships with studios, artists, and collaborators — both within our local community and beyond. And while the market may be fast-paced and unpredictable, we’re learning to embrace that energy, using it to fuel smarter decisions and more intentional releases.
