Psychology is all around us

Psychology found its way into my life after having been sent to a psychologist at the age of 15. It was a displeasing idea to even be recommended to a psychologist because to a certain degree I was now considered mentally unstable. Many times I was told by family and peers that "everything is just in your head" and that my anxiety was the biggest factor. Although I knew it was in my head, the words themselves were just dreadful to hear. What I learned later on in my sessions was that I didn't need someone to tell me I was wrong and that it was just all in my head. At that moment I learned that I just needed someone to be there for me and listen.
Throughout our lives we give so many social cues that indicate many emotions like depression, fear, sadness etc. These emotions can then be displayed through social acts of behavior. If a person genuinely listens to a person you can see that they have a story. They are a book and you can see where the story is leading up to. A person can then intervene and change the whole outcome of the story. My career setting would be to become a behavioral therapist for children and help change the outcome of their story to a happier ending.
Here is an article and website that can do much more explaining and gives an insight into my future profession http://www.kidsmentalhealth.org/behavioral-therapy-for-children-with-emotional-disorders/
