INTRO ONE OF SOCIOLOGY

So far i have watched and read the material assigned all up to date. what i caught on from the beginning on the assignments were some interesting reads. I learned new unique things about this subject, the collection of people, social institute & scientific studies.

CONSUMER CULTURE

"Why we consume the way we do". (pg.11 Henslin)

I found so many shocking related moments especially now with social media. People live through that conspicuous consumption life style America especially. Using the 3 thinking frames really helped me look at the world a little more brighter.

THE FIRST THING I BOUGHT

To reflect on some of the readings i now see that at a young age we all were brought up around consumer culture.

I was apart of that at the age of 8, I saved up enough money to buy a mystery bag from the globalized store SANRIO, known as the Hello Kitty store. I was in the 3rd grade when i seen every little girl with a mystery bag that they all purchased from the store of every little girls dream. So i knew i had to have it but coming from a single parent household i had to save up for a whole month just to get what i wanted so badly. The mystery bag was $5.00 so each week my grandfather gave me my weekly allowance of $1.00 and i saved every dollar just for this. When i finally got my special item it all only lasted me 2 weeks until some kid in my class stole it out of my desk.

SYMPATHY IN EVERYDAY LIFE

In this chapter i learned that there were 4 rules, 4 rules to the stages of sympathy I didn't know which even existed. There is a huge part of me being a sympathizer of this huge war going on in GAZA . reading on this chapter really helped me get a better understanding of everyone everyday life of emotions.

CONTRASTING DURK. AND MARXIST PERSPECTIVES

This was a very interesting read Food rules, Culture, Deviance and Cultural relativism. All of it makes me look at our daily lifestyle of our everyday lives so much more differently and now questionable of some things that came across my mind.

Culture meals for one is a very big deal on social media i see lots of as of late. Many people finding new meals to try and witness many people speaking on how they could never or would never try to prepare the foods they're going to eat in other countries because of where the animal came from. Like the topic of dog meat many people in America would automatically put that cultural bias as being a huge deviant but really its not its a TOTEM for a lot of countries, Not just Asia but all around the world its a huge staple in a family household (not mine).

For me my food totem would be rice, Rice is a huge staple in my families household there's no special ritual but it does play a huge part of the Asian community social group.
