Passive-
the relationship of her family-
in winters bone the passive spectatorship can be seen when Res is with her family, a scene in particular that is very passive is the scene where Res is teaching her brother and sister how to use a gun. in this particular scene I believe the audience see his scene as complete normal and natural- because eat the end of the day although it is wrong she is teaching her siblings the means of life, it is passive because you don't need to think hard about what is going on, you just simps accept it.

Active-
the whole film itself-
the whole film itself can be seen as an active spectatorship due to not knowing the result of whats going to happen in the end. in the film selma or any other Biopic it can be seen as a passive spectatorship as due to facts we know what is going to happen in the end. the film often switches between active and passive spectatorship, but active spectatorship can be seen the most, especially in between intense scenes such as the scene where Res gets beaten up. were having to question why she is getting beaten up making the spectatorship more active than passive.
