Angel Jibril came in the form of a man to teach the religion of Islam to the companions by asking questions to Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

2. Pillars of Islam

The Prophet explained that Islam consists of:

    • Bearing witness (Shahadah)

    • Performing prayer (Salah)

    • Giving alms (Zakat)

    • Fasting during Ramadan

    • Performing pilgrimage (Hajj) if one is able

3. Articles of Faith (Iman)

Faith includes belief in:

    • Allah

    • His angels

    • His books

    • His messengers

    • The Last Day

    • Divine decree (Qadar), both good and bad

4. Concept of Ihsan and Signs of the Hour

Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him; and if you do not see Him, know that He sees you. Signs of the Hour include:

    • A slave giving birth to her master

    • The poor and barefooted competing in constructing tall buildings

Belief in Allah (Tawheed)

• The foundation of Iman is to believe in the Oneness of Allah, without partners or equals.

• This means recognizing Him as the sole Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of everything.

• A Muslim must worship only Allah and place full trust in Him.

Belief in the Unseen (Angels, Books, Messengers)

• Muslims believe in angels created by Allah, who carry out His commands.

• They also believe in all the divine books revealed (Torah, Zabur, Injeel, Qur’an – with Qur’an as the final guidance).

• Belief in all prophets and messengers is required, from Adam to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, acknowledging that they were chosen to guide mankind.

Belief in the Hereafter (Akhirah)

• Every soul will be resurrected after death for judgment.

• Believers accept the reality of Paradise (Jannah) and Hell (Jahannam), which are the eternal abodes depending on one’s deeds.

• This belief encourages accountability and righteous living.

Belief in Divine Decree (Qadr)

• Muslims affirm that everything happens by Allah’s will and knowledge, whether good or bad.

• This includes belief in Allah’s complete control over destiny, while humans still have responsibility for their choices.

• It teaches patience, gratitude, and trust in Allah’s plan.

Belief in Qada’ and Qadar (Destiny)

• Everything happens by Allah’s knowledge and will, whether good or bad.

• Allah has already written what will happen, but humans are still responsible for their choices.

• This belief teaches us patience in hardship and gratitude in blessings.

Belief in Rasul (Prophets & Messengers)

• Allah sent prophets to guide people, starting from Adam to Muhammad ﷺ (the final messenger).

• They were chosen to deliver Allah’s message, teach goodness, and warn against evil.

• Believing in them means following their teachings sincerely.

Belief in the Hereafter (Akhirah)

• Life doesn’t end with death; every soul will be resurrected.

• On the Day of Judgment, everyone will be accountable for their deeds.

• Paradise (reward) and Hell (punishment) are real and eternal.

🔹 Minor Signs (before the major ones)

These are mentioned in Qur’an and Hadith, and many are already happening:

• Spread of immorality, dishonesty, and disobedience.

• People competing in building tall buildings (Hadith: Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim).

• Wealth becoming common, but people being ungrateful.

• Knowledge disappearing, Qur’an being neglected, ignorance spreading.

• People breaking family ties and losing trust.

• Time feeling shorter and closer together.

🔹 Major Signs (Qur’an + Hadith)

These are dramatic events that will clearly show the approach of Qiyamah:

1. The appearance of the Dajjal (Antichrist) – a great deceiver.

2. The return of Prophet Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) – who will defeat the Dajjal and bring justice.

3. The emergence of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog) – two powerful tribes that will spread corruption.

4. The Beast of the Earth (Dabbah al-Ard) – mentioned in the Qur’an:
   “And when the word befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them…”
   (Surah An-Naml 27:82)

5. The rising of the Sun from the West – a sign after which repentance will no longer be accepted.

6. Three great landslides – one in the East, one in the West, one in Arabia.

7. A great fire that will gather people towards the place of final assembly.

8. The blowing of the Trumpet (by Angel Israfil) – mentioned in many verses:
   “And the Trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead, except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and behold! They will be standing, looking on.”
   (Surah Az-Zumar 39:68)

• Root Word: Derived from Arabic "أدب" meaning to refine, educate, or discipline.

• Meaning: Refers to good manners, morals, etiquette, and appropriate behavior based on Islamic teachings.

• Nature: Adab is both a quality and a process—it can be learned and cultivated.

2. Adab vs Akhlaq

• Akhlaq: Refers to moral philosophy—why actions are good or bad.

• Adab: Refers to manners—how one behaves in practice.

• Adab is the practical application of Akhlaq.

3. Adab in Islam

• According to Imam Ibnul Qayyim RH, adab reflects the perfection of a person’s character in both speech and action.

• It is a manifestation of good akhlaq (character).

4. Adab Towards Parents (Surah Maryam 19:41–50)

The story of Prophet Ibrahim A.S. and his father is used to illustrate adab:

Key Lessons from Ibrahim A.S.:

• Respectful Address: Repeatedly used “O my father” showing love and respect.

• Gentle Advice: Questioned his father’s idol worship without confrontation.

• Avoided Insults: Did not use harsh terms like “infidel” or “sinner”.

• Shared Knowledge Humbly: Mentioned his prophetic knowledge without arrogance.

• Warned with Compassion: Warned his father about divine punishment with concern.

• Responded Peacefully: When threatened, he responded with peace and promised to pray for his father.

• Left with Dignity: Chose to leave his father’s household respectfully.

• Divine Reward: Allah rewarded him with a righteous family—Isaac and Jacob, both prophets.

5. Conclusion

• Adab is essential in all aspects of life, especially in relationships like with parents.

• It reflects inner character and is a key part of Islamic ethics and spirituality.

• Live the essence of Iman and Ihsan – not only in theory but through sincere worship, ethical actions, and good character.

• Practice adab consistently, especially towards teachers, parents, friends, and the wider community, so that my manners reflect the values taught in the Qur’an and Sunnah.

• Develop resilience and patience like the Prophets, especially Prophet Nuh (AS) and Prophet Ibrahim (AS), when facing challenges in life and da’wah.

• Continue learning and reflecting – just as the usrah reminded me that knowledge is a lifelong journey that requires sincerity, humility, and action.

In short, my wish is to be a servant of Allah who not only gains knowledge but also applies it with sincerity, respect, and Ihsan in all aspects of life.

🪞 Reflection

Looking back at these six weeks of usrah, I realize that each session was not just about learning, but also about transforming my mindset and actions.

1. Strengths & Lessons Learned
   

   • I became more aware of the manners of seeking knowledge, reminding me to approach learning with humility and sincerity.

   • The study of Hadith Jibril deepened my understanding of the foundation of Islam, Iman, and Ihsan, showing me how these three aspects shape a complete Muslim identity.

   • Discussions on the Pillars of Iman and Islam reminded me of my responsibilities as a believer and helped me connect my faith to daily life.

   • Reflecting on Prophet Nuh’s perseverance and Prophet Ibrahim’s respectful character taught me patience, kindness, and resilience.

   • Sometimes it was challenging to fully implement Ihsan in every action, as it requires constant mindfulness and sincerity.

   • Balancing studies with consistent practice of adab and worship reminded me that self-discipline is key to true growth.

Overall, this usrah taught me that knowledge must be lived, not just memorized. My reflection is that faith is a journey of continuous learning, patience, and action—and this experience has encouraged me to keep striving to become a better servant of Allah.

1. Fasting & Its Virtues (Ṣawm)

• Fasting is obligatory for believers, as prescribed to previous nations, to develop taqwa (God-consciousness).

• Taqwa means being careful and mindful of Allah in actions and behaviour.

• Fasting is not just avoiding food and drink, but also avoiding lies, bad speech, and sinful actions.

• Virtues of fasting:
  

  • Builds ṣabr (patience) and self-control

  • Trains obedience to Allah

  • Encourages empathy and mercy (raḥmah) towards the poor and needy

    
    

• Levels of fasting (Al-Ghazali):
  

  • Physical fasting (food, drink, desires)

  • Controlling limbs from sin

  • Purifying the heart from worldly distrac

  
  

2. Virtues Found in Ṣalāh with Khushūʿ

• Khushūʿ means presence of heart and mind, humility, and calmness in prayer.

• Ṣalāh with khushūʿ strengthens the relationship with Allah and shapes good character.

• It helps prevent sinful behaviour and improves self-discipline.

• Values developed through khushūʿ:
  

  • Al-Ṭāʿah – obedience and loyalty to Allah

  • Al-Jihād al-Nafs – inner struggle against laziness and distractions

  • Muḥāsabah – self-reflection and accountability

  • ʿIffah – modesty and self-restraint

  • Tawaḍḍuʿ – humility

    
    

• Ṣalāh is not only performed, but lived in daily life.

3. Preparation of Ṣalāh with Khushūʿ (Usrah Module)

• Ṣalāh basics include conditions, pillars, sunnah acts, and things that invalidate prayer.

• Wuḍūʾ must be done correctly, using clean water and proper steps.

• Tayammum is allowed when water cannot be used.

• Khushūʿ is a sunnah but essential for meaningful prayer.

• Obstacles to khushūʿ include distractions, was-was, and attachment to worldly matters.

• Ways to achieve khushūʿ:
  

  • Pray on time and prepare mentally

  • Understand the meaning of recitations

  • Avoid distractions and unnecessary movements

  • Pray calmly with focus and sincerity

  
  

4. Reasons & Sources of Ḥikmah from ʿIbādah

• Acts of worship carry wisdom (ḥikmah) beyond rituals.

• Ṣalāh prevents immorality and wrongdoing and strengthens remembrance of Allah.

• Ṣawm (Fasting) develops righteousness, discipline, and taqwa.

• Zakāh purifies wealth and the soul, and helps society.

• Ḥajj teaches self-control, unity, patience, and fear of Allah.

• All acts of worship aim to purify the heart, improve character, and strengthen faith.
