If you know them and grow close to them you’ll create a relationship and if you miss something in the class you will have people there who will help you. Lastly play things that you find fun. Never compare yourselves to others, that will just make you feel down. When I was just starting flute, we were learning to read music, and i had never taken any other instrument in my life, so i felt so bad when i couldn't do what most people could, because they had played other instruments. as soon as i stopped caring where other people were, (A little healthy competition is good, though!) I saw that slowly but surely, i started to improve! Don't worry about what they say, do or think. Who knows! You NEED TO PRACTICE. Don't over do it, 25-30 mins a day is enough as long as you're practicing correctly and not only playing the easy things. If one day you just don't feel good, don't practice until you feel better. For me, if I practice like that I can't play well and I start feeling horrible about my playing skills altogether.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR REEDS!!!
You need to make sure they don't break, and always keep a spare. Also, don't get new reeds right before a performance or an important assignment. It takes a week or two to break them in so they play well.

Band is awesome. You will love it, even though it's all online because you get to learn a new instrument! 

One last thing: Do your best!

Don't give up and practice. tuning is super important with trombone because trombone is the only instrument with a slide like that (i think) and it's easy to play off tune. Make sure your sound is good. When i want to make my sound better I will open up my mouth more and make sure not to be tense because that makes your music sound less relaxed. your going to have A LOT of fun in band, do your best and good luck! :))

Always have a good embouchure (mouth/lip position). It will impact your tone, and if you are flat or sharp. Practicing will strengthen and prolong the duration that you can hold it.

Also, be sure to have good reeds for class (reeds that are broken in). As your current reeds are getting bad, make sure to break in a new set. They will greatly impact your performance. New reeds tend to be sharp and harder to get sound out of.

As you switch notes, it is a good idea to keep your fingers close to the tone holes and for them to be curved.
