I have learned that making some of my symbols bigger creates a better focal point, as I want the viewer's eyes to go to the big symbols. Such as my volcano, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens By The Bay, and the mountains, as it's the biggest symbols of all of them.

In this final piece I demonstrate what I feel are the strengths of my final piece in the areas of symbolism and visual storytelling. The painting features a central figure surrounded by a collage of expressive elements that convey the narrative. The use of bold colors, matching colors in different places.

I feel like one of the challenges I faced was achieving a cohesive balance between the different symbolic elements. “No no no” themes, various icons, and abstract shapes can create a confusing or overwhelming composition if not carefully integrated. Additionally, artists may wish to explore more detailed textures and depth to create a more immersive visual experience. There is no modification or careful depiction of the characters' facial features. Although there were some difficulties encountered during production, the work succeeds, in my opinion, due to the strong use of pictorial symbolism, the expressive palette, and the expressive depiction of the central character. I used every detail to show what kind of person I am, and also the current events in 2024 to tell people the background of this painting. These are what I think this is successful, but if I have time, I would like to change it The characters’ eyes, nose and mouth are not very well detailed.

Analyze：

Compared with some previous works, I don't think about many details when painting, and I don't ask teachers for help, but in this last work, I spent some time painting and making the painting beautiful. Through the meditative gaze of the central figure and the collage of surrounding expressive elements, one's own life is revealed. This unit has changed my view on art, because before I just thought art was a beautiful thing, a piece of clothing, but now I think art is a tool that can communicate with people and can make you feel changed in your heart. , the watercolors and pencils in this unit let me know how to color and match.

In my final artwork, I focused on using a mix of warm and cool colors to create balance and contrast throughout the entire piece. I used bold colors in certain areas to make them stand out, while other areas had softer colors to create a more relaxed feeling. I believe my artwork was successful because I dedicated time both in and out of school to improve and refine my piece. I also made many choices with color contrasts, for example using warm colors (such as red, pink, and orange) with cool colors (such as blue and green) to enhance my artwork a bit more. The focal point of my artwork was my face, which I wanted to be the centerpiece, the first symbol my audience would lay eyes on, however, I felt it looked unfinished and could use more detail. If I had more time, I would continue to refine both my face and the background to bring the whole piece together more completely.

Analyze:

Over the past two months, I have grown as an artist. As before, I knew very little about drawing faces as it was difficult, but most importantly, it was a struggle when it came to getting the right proportions of a face. However, I feel like I’m starting to get the hang of drawing faces and getting right proportions. As I have gotten a lot of practices to help me get the right proportions of a face. It was hard at first, but now I have gotten the hang of it. This unit has helped me changed my views of art as before I didn’t know artworks could have such meaning. But now, most artwork that I know have a dark backstory behind it or just symbols that we don’t even know had an important meaning behind it.

What I should do better:

1. Practise shading

2. Make the person a bit more realistic

3. Don't put to much shading to make it. shadowy, you want it to be natural.

   After few months I have been not listening and distracted with my friends. It was hard to draw an eye, nose, and mouth. The most hardest one for me is the shading part. I only know how to do shading when I draw cartoons but not when drawing a human like face. What was fun was that playing around with the art meterials and making the backgroung, learning new things and stuff. It was fun at first until I accidentally made a mess on the chair and on someones shirt, it was a white shirt… OOPS! Later in our next art unit we still learned how to draw a portrait but this time a challenging twist. It's using oil pastel. It's hard because I accidtally draw alien half skin walker person… Bru-. Anyways when doing another portrait work it's with grayled pencil. The lips were weird… When the teacher said we can do anything we want I drew a Skin walker human… Like what was I suppose to thing off? When trying to redo the lips it still didn't go well. It's the same thing. So this final work… I did it. the lips were shape right the Nose… Eh… To be honest it's way better than before. I listen to the teacher what she told me what to add so yep, I grown as an artist. No need the skin walker anymore… Get that out of there! and enjoy the new life.
