I think that the age of the American Empire did more good than it did harm both domestically and internationally for both the short and long term. However, I believe that the American Empire only took international action whenever it would benefit themselves. Although America got involved in the Spanish-American and Philippine-American war, they only got involved in these because they saw a window of opportunity to help Cuba gain their independence which would mean that Cuba would rely on America, and America would have control over Cuba along with having Puerto Rico as a territory which still exists until today. The United States also only got involved in the Philippines-American war because they saw it as an opportunity to gain a foothold in the Pacific which would also help with their trade with China and other Asian countries. On top of this, America also acquired Guam during this time which is a territory in the Pacific that allows America to have even more influence. This allowed some countries to gain their independence from Spain; however, it also meant that they would still be influenced by America for at least a little longer. Domestically speaking, there was both good and harm that was going on since imports allowed factories with some of the materials that they needed, and relations with other nations allowed for America to increase their exports so that factories wanted to produce even more. However, this age was a time in which many immigrants moved to the United States, so they were able to take some of the working class jobs that left many people without jobs. Overall, I would say that the American Empire provided more good than harm even though there was still harm that occurred during this time.

The age of American Empire did lots of good domestically and internationally and I would argue it barely did any harm to Americans. A lot of the moves that America has made in the past hasn't been for the short term result, more of the long term return. The participation in the Spanish-American war was not really for the short term rewards of winning the war, but more or less for the control of some territories. The result of the Spanish-American War rewarded Guam and Puerto Rico to the US, allowed the US to purchase the Philippine islands, and gave Cuba its independence. Another conflict, the Philippine-American War allowed the US to annex the Philippine islands, and there have been many other instances that are similar. Looking back even at events such as the Mexican-American War, our nation has been doing whatever it could to expand its grasp and grow its empire. We talked of Manifest Destiny earlier in our discussions and some effects of that idea can still be seen in more recent conflicts. The main domestic problems have been some small affects on our nations economy, but mostly jobs. The United States taking over some territories means that these people are immigrating to the United States and are taking away jobs from working class Americans. While this issue can cause some issues, it is not too bad of an issue and overall the American Empire has done more domestic and international good than it has bad.

When asked if the age of the American Empire did far more harm than good both domestically and internationally, both short and long term, I would agree. If this question was asked just about the age of the American Empire for America than their would be little harm done to America. The reason for America's success, is tearing countries down around or trying to Americanize foreign people. Cultures were destroyed along with the lives of those already in less fortunate places because of America stepping in. Like Darwin's point of view, Americans believed in order to survive they must be the strongest taking down those who are "weaker." Americans only did what would selfishly benefit America more, regardless of the groups of people and countries they had to take down in the process. Once Americans did get immigrants to "Americanize" frustration grew as Americans believed that America was barely America anymore, but rather a combination of foreign people.

Like everything, the American Empire had pros and cons when it came down to the bare minimum of its structure in the world. These pros and cons basically set up a sorta of standard for American structures with pros like spreading modern technology around the world, increased farm production, cultural exchange, and new access to raw materials. The cons aren’t as well off but when it shortens itself down you tend to have violent conflicts, large amount of funding, discrimination, discredit to beliefs. One could easily argue that these cons outweigh the pros and they’re somewhat right but people forget that discrimination and violence are over the entire world. The coming of the American empire didn’t create violence or anything, it simply brought up a whole new playing field. Nationally, discrimination is a huge thing as well as violence, not to mention everything cost money and no one will ever believe the same exact thing so theoretically you could say that the American Empire was a success.

The age of the American Empire did far more harm than good both domestically and internationally, both in the short term and in the long term. This has two sides to it. On one hand America benefited through industry, democracy, and just being one of the largest powers of the world of the time (which allowed them to take advantage of other countries politically and economically like the Philippines, Cuba, Germany, Austria, Korea, and Japan just being some affected at the time.) But on the other hand, every other country one way or another had to trade, rely, or depend on America some way during this era. Whether it was due to shortages from war, economical struggles, or some other political struggle within the country itself, the U.S. was a way to help any country out of their situation but in exchange would give some benefit to the U.S. as well. This would end up short term helping the countries but long term hurting the various countries due to having them share valuable resources with America.

The American Empire had its ups and downs, much like the rest of our history. I think that it did more good than it did harm. This being for both internationally and domestically. Our success if based off of the Americanizing of foreign people. Americans wanted everything and everyone in our country to be on thing and fit the one mold. Many cultures and religions were covered or made rid of because of American leaders stepping in. The United States took over some of the territories which meant that the people who are immigrating to the US were taking away jobs from the Americans. Although this does sound like an issue, the natural competition and that causes a drive in the population is a good thing. It made the people react and want to step into a role in the community.
