My nickname C and my role is Process Safety Associate. To identify and analyze potential hazards in processes or systems at my workplace, we use different PHA techniques such as HAZOP, Bowtie and so on. My role is Scribing in HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate risks in facilities. What I would like to bring home today is understanding the importance of PHA studies and their crucial role in facilities to protect people, environment, company’s reputation and revenue.

Hi I'm Ron Joshua V. Catuiran from University of Santo Tomas. My known method in identifying and analyzing potential hazards is HAZOP. In addition, maintenance, reports, and data regarding the quality of equipment also help flag issues. As an intern in Saltegra Consulting LLC, i have yet to determining my role in identifying and mitigating risks. One thing i would like to brim home to my work place is the importance of keeping Process Safety Management elements updated and integrating. Moreover, ensuring regular reviewed procedures and ensuring all personal are properly trained can greatly reduce the risk of tragedy in an industrial setting.

Hi, I'm Nigel and I am a Process Safety Engineer at Saltegra Consulting. Saltegra specializes in process safety and risk management to prevent chemical related incidents across various industries by providing services that focus on Process Hazard Analysis, such as the development, improvement, and review of HAZOP and LOPA studies. Saltegra also provides compliance audits which assesses regulatory compliances and ensure that they are aligned with the PSM framework. As a Process Safety Engineer, I am expected to be proactive and highly critical in identifying process hazards and its causes, evaluating potential consequences, assessing safeguards, and providing effective recommendations to mitigate and prevent incidents. Given the course goals, I would like to be an expert in the HAZOP methodology and to be able to effectively apply it to various scenarios to ensure safe the accident-proof systems.

Hello, I am Dash!

I am an intern and still a student studying Chemical Engineering at University of Santo Tomas, and I have not yet been sufficiently instructed in analyzing potential hazards in systems. In the little research I have done on HAZOP to familiarize myself with the topic beforehand, I think history plays a significant role in analyzing potential hazards. This can also be pulled from the different histories, studies, and accidents that occurred in familiar fields. Currently, as I am not yet a process engineer, it is my job to look into these to determine how they can be used to advocate that it should be a workplace responsibility to implement.

I am ecstatic to pursue my academic venture as a freshly appointed Business Development Intern at Saltegra Consulting LLC.

Although having not yet been exposed to much of the technical side of potential hazard analyses, my present understanding is that two key factors may dictate this: History and critical thinking. Knowing the possibility of a risk is very often gained through observation. Being aware of the details in which were responsible for a previously occurring accident can heavily aid in similar future scenarios. Otherwise, one’s intuition and critical thinking is also essential to grasp foresight on any presented case, as expertly performed by the Saltegra Consulting crew.

Being an intern, my momentary goal is to first enlighten myself with the different aspects and components surrounding hazard and risk mitigation. Upon having familiarized these, I may then be equipped to, hopefully, contribute well in any future discussions.

I am Kurt, a recently appointed Business Development Intern at Saltegra Consulting LLC and a BS Chemical Engineering Student at the University of Santo Tomas.

With pieces of information from previous academic courses, an aspect one can consider when identifying potential hazards is its categorization. Dangers or Hazards must be categorized by its type (physical, chemical, etc.) to determine what kind of damages it might deal, and by its severity to recognize which safety measures must be applied for each scenario. Another is the history of the workplace. To know the background or history of a workplace means one can recognize patterns and address them to prevent incidents from happening again.

As an intern, I can help in maintaining a culture of safety and risk mitigation in the workplace by diving deeper into the specifics of hazard identification; learning how to properly categorize and address them.
