I really like Kahoot. I always encounter the same problems with using tech apps... Math is just really HARD to type in. Kahoot has many pre-formed math quizzes so I use this often in the classroom (but not every kid can play b/c wifi is very poor in my room). But when it comes to creating your own, typing PreCalc in to documents takes forever. I would like to see more apps for Math purposes. I will continue to look into this over the summer. I will add Closing the Loop to my classtime.

I’ve assigned Quizlet for homework. There is an activity where students are trying to answer questions in the shortest amount of time. This was a great motivator because students were constantly trying to beat the top classmate’s score. Quizlet Live was great for assessing vocabulary words/terms. The students loved the competition. After each round it showed which words the students were struggling with. This was very beneficial to me knowing which words/terms I needed to revisit with them.
I’m looking forward to learning how to incorporate EDPuzzle this fall, as well as using Plickers.
Over the years I’ve used many different non-tech formative assessments; especially ones that involve student interaction and getting them out of their seats. It was nice to see a list of a few I didn’t know about. I will definitely be using 3-2-1 next year. I like the 2 personal connection statements because it will show me if they are able to make personal application from the lesson.

I love Kahoot; it serves as a great review of vocabulary in Geometry class and the students love it. I have not found a tech FA that works well for writing math problems, so the non-tech ideas were great. I like the idea of trying demonstration stations and four corners. I use drawings, exit cards, think pair share, and individual whiteboards.

I like Kahoot and Quizlet live. I also utilize my basketball goal - answer correctly and take a shot for additional points. I've created a modified Kaboom game on google slides. After answering correctly, the team or student chooses to take the consequence or pass. It is then revealed and can be a positive or a negative consequence. I add humor to the phrases like: "Your cross-eyed dog needs classes; pay the vet 1000 points" or "Your cross-eyed dog won 10,000 points on AFV". I also have a lock-out buzzer system with 4 controls (the first button pusher locks out the other three so no debate on who pushed first). I often just make up games as I go - some keepers as is and some need improvements. The students are quick to tell me which one; that gives them some ownership of the game.
I want to try Edpuzzle and Plickers this year. I'm going to order the Plickers cards.

Tim

I'd love to include Plickers, EdPuzzle, Flipgrid and Padlet this year as tech tools. My students love Kahoot but honestly I get so tired of it :) Quizlet is a fun tool for them to use for independent review. We use Gallery Walks and students like these. We also do a version of ABC and one minute essays. I definitely need to have non-tech options because access is always a problem. I would like to increase my white board use. This year I also would like to use Matching for my vocabulary (making vocab Mats), and four corners for vocab introduction, inside outside circles. Wow, there are so many things to try.
April
