One concept that is relatable at this age is trust and mistrust. This when we develop our trust in our surroundings. My mom explained to me that as a toddler I was very hesitant as to who could carry me and who could not. I was raised by my mother and grandmother because my father worked out of the state. I remember my mom telling me that the day my dad came home from work, I ran away from him because I had not seen him most of my infancy and toddlerhood. It took me a while to realize that it was indeed my dad. A age grade event that happened at this age is that I no longer needed diapers because i was fully potty trained. A Non-normative event that happened during my toddlerhood is very blurry and I only remember bits and pieces but it would be when my grandfather passed away. For a world event, like I mentioned earlier it is very blurry for me to remember any but I do slightly remember 9/11 happening.

The theory that I connected to the most in chapter 7 was social learning theory. I would have to describe his theory as how children determine their judgement and actions from what others around them do and how they respond to certain situations. Children imitate behaviors that they see from their remodels. It is commonly heard amounts parents that they are their children's role models. At the age of 3 and 6, children are referred to as sponges, they pick up on everything that is demonstrated to them and this is where social learning theory comes in. For example, my parents would always have to watch what they said around me because I would repeat everything they said. One age graded event that occurred in my life during this period was I was attending school and started making friends. A non normative event that happened during that time was that we had to move out of our home and move to a different city due to a family argument that occurred. For the history graded event, the economy did become weak in 2005 and this affected my parents. This resulted in our way of living changing drastically and as a child I had to understand that my parents could not provide me with certain things I wanted at that point. At 5 years old my parents had to try their best to help me understand why our way of living was changing drastically. This helped me understand growing up to save money and understand that when times get tough I need to be responsible and understanding.

The theory that I connect to the most would have to be Sternberg's triangular theory of learning. I connect to this because growing up I was always more of a creative person than anything. I feel as if this theory helps us all be different and help us find out individuality amongst ourselves because everyone has a different way of learning and being and this theory has a role in that. An age graded event that took place during this period I my life would have to be that I learned how to read books. I clearly remember that my parents always had me reading my books at home so I could take quizzes on them at school the following day. A non normative event that took place during that period was I lost my great grandpa to Alzheimer's. I was well aware of what was going on and it did affect me. A history grade event that happened during that time would have to be hurricane Katrina. I remember seeing the news and seeing the damage the hurricane had caused and what people were going through.

Adolescence (11-18 years old)

The theory I connect to is Piaget's Cognitive Development Theory specifically Formal Operant Reasoning. I would describe this as when adolescences become better at problem solving. I just recently got out of my adolescence and made my way to young adulthood so I can firmly say that my decision and problem solving skill did get better. It is crazy seeing myself comprehend and take a different approach on my problems as I get older. Looking back and compering my problem solving skills, I have become better at problem solving and even critical thinking. One age grade event that I lived during my adolescence was graduating. I graduated from high school and college with my associates. Sadly my Non Normative event is my grandmother getting sick. She is still sick battling a very rare disease where her brain is affected. She lost most of her memory and ability to walk. For a history grade event I would have to say it would be President Trump being the third president to be impeached. I know this is a very touchy subject but, I will say that his whole time in office directly impacted me and not in a good way.

The theory that I can relate the most with is Erick Erickson's theory of psychosocial development specifically intimacy vs isolation. This is the sixth stage of his eight stages. I feel as if I relate the most with this because as a 23 year old, it could be difficult starting up a relationship or staying alone and isolating myself. A successful stage 5 comes with a trouble free stage 6 meaning if you successfully go through Erickson's 5th stage which is identity vs confusion, you can successfully be apart of healthy relationships. An age grade event that has happened during my emerging adulthood would be me attending college and graduating with my associates degree. A non normative event that also has happened would be my grandmothers illness still being around and causing drastic change in our family dynamic. The history grade event that is happening during this stage is of course covid. Covid has been around for 2 years now and it has changed our lives forever.
