One of my research questions is: how do or could science lecturers embed social responsibility in their teaching? Action research aligns with this because I see this as a question linked to something we must do as science lecturers, given that guiding university students towards becoming socially responsible as graduates is common to the mission of many universities in Australia. In this sense, the methodological fit of the project with action research sees to be a good one.

We propose that the project's first part will be a scoping review whose aim is to uncover examples of university science lecturers embedding social responsibility in their teaching. In this sense, we are not looking for gaps. We suspect that one gap will be studies that present the experience of university lecturers who are, would like to, or maybe aren't yet convinced about, embedding social responsibility in their teaching. Other parts of the project are intended to help fill that gap
