I want to know how to make lesson plans so that I can possibly increase the topics that I teach at my school. I currently only teach puberty to the 4th and 5th graders, but I would love to teach other topics to other grades also.

To be honest, when I have written lesson plans in past courses, my coworkers who I have asked for help said that they don't use them or submit them in our district. What is the benefit for having formal lesson plans? I come from a family of teachers so I was able to figure it out with their help, but even they hadn't written one in ages!
