  • All the students daily use a variety of packaged items especially food items, more prominently on fests and other occasions decorative items and all other materials creates a large amount of plastic waste which takes thousands of years to degrade, ending up in a landfill damaging our environment. Therefore, our aim is to convert this plastic into fuel which is eco-friendly and in future could replace the depleting fossil fuels.
 
2. How do you intend to solve this problem?
 
  • We can start with the following steps:
  • The first thing is to collect our own plastic and then by creating awareness about it we can choose a pickup location where people from various housing societies can come and dump their plastic waste. The truck driver then collects this plastic from various areas and takes it to the godown from where it is transported by a bigger truck to the main plant.
  • After the plastic has reached the plant, it is first segregated into hard plastics, MLPs, bags etc and then is put into a dust cleaning machine which cleans the plastic.
  • It is then put into an Aglo machine which reduces the volume of the plastic& makes it granular. Similarly, hard particles are put into the grinding machine & shredded.
  • The mix is then loaded into a reactor, catalyst is added, and the reactor is shut.
  • This process is thermocatalytic depolymerization which is an anaerobic reaction. It takes place in absence of oxygen as in presence of it, it catches fire.
  • Rather than being burnt this plastic is generally heated. Between 150 – 200 0 C, it melts & between 380 - 400 0C it polymerizes.
  • The oil that remains is polyfuel which can be filtered, stored & used for cooking in our own college canteens without using LPG. This technology setup can create many opportunities for students who want to start-up a business or any career related to waste recycling.

  •  In this process for every 100 kg of plastic waste,70-80 litres of oil is generated and with an estimated production cost of 24-30 rupees per litre, this polyfuel can directly be used as the source of burning without any need for further processing, so it can be sold at 40 rupees per litre(at a cheaper rate to houses where kerosene and firewood are still being used causing pollution.
  • Profit margin can be increased by selling it to oil manufacturing companies.
  • In this process, 3-7% of residual char or sludge is remained which we can sell to cement making factories and can be used to make bilumen roads.

During offline college handwritten assignments are submitted and even the exams are handwritten. After the correction of those papers they are of no use which leads to the generation of a lot of paper waste. 
Our application will address this problem and help reduce the wastage.

Our application will have separate sections of folders for notes of different subjects.
This application will also include online assignment submission. The students and the teachers will thus have online records of the assignments submitted.
Exams will be conducted through this application and even E-books will be provided. 
This will help to reduce paper waste.  

3) How will you market your business elsewhere? 
Advertisement through television and social media will be done just so the initiative will be promoted.
Will approach the targeted market and have a direct collaboration with them. 
Will give them free trials for a specific amount of time just so they could get used to it and understand the effectiveness of the application.

- The spread of airborne diseases has always affected the well being of people and the past year and a half has cost everyone a lot of time, labour, money and most importantly health. We intend to minimise the spread of such airborne diseases by cleaning up the air.

- Our project is to install very fine High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in the classrooms. These fine filters draw the surrounding air in and decontaminate them of any viruses or bacteria.

3. How would you market your business elsewhere?
- In recent times, it is quite clear the importance of clean and hygienic air quality. We intend to market our product as an initiative for citizens to reduce the spread of airborne diseases.

4. What is the target market for your product/service?

- Large amount of paper waste(writting books,paper sheets,tissue papers,etc) are generated in campus daily. So our service is to recycle the paper waste.

2) How do you intend to address this problems?
-Step1 
• Waste paper torn and soaked in water.
• Waste paper is torn into small pieces and kept in a large tube.
• They are soaked in water for two hours.
•  Fenugreek seeds (Methi seeds) can be soaked along with the paper to increase the strength of recycled paper.
-step 2
This is an electrically powered 
mini-beater or a hydrapulper. 
Pulp is made ready in this 
hydrapulper for making paper
• The soaked paper is put into the 
hydrapulper along with soaked 
fenugreek seeds.
• Water is poured into the hydrapulper.
• The lid is closed.
• It is switched on and run for 20-30 minutes.
• This pulp is well beaten and 
smooth.
• We can add colours to this pulp 
and beat it for a few seconds.
-step 3
• This is a univat with a unique deckle and mould frame system.
• Univat is filled with water and the deckle and mould frame system is slowly immersed in water. 
• The paper pulp is transferred to the deckle and mould frame, mixed thoroughly with water and lifted slowly. The quantity of pulp transferred depends on the thickness of the paper required.
-step 4
• A wooden board is placed on a table. A piece of thin cotton wet cloth is neatly spread on the board without any wrinkles.
• The frame is carefully lifted and turned over the cloth. At least ten sheets can be stacked on top of each other separated by the thin cotton cloth.
• Another wooden board is placed on this stack of sheets and pressed to squeeze out excess water.
-step 5
• This is a manual screw press. It is used to squeeze out water from the recycled paper sheets. 
• The stack of sheets along with the two wooden boards, one at the top and one at the bottom of the papers is placed in the screw press. It is rotated like a screw till most of the water is squeezed from the paper.
-step 6
• After squeezing out excess water by the screw press, the sheets of papers are separated and dried in the Sun.
• The dry paper is peeled out from the cotton cloth the next day and straightened with a calendaring machine or a hot iron. 
• After this the paper is ready for use or sale.

3) How would you market your business elsewhere?
- advertising of fancy products paper bags,gift box ,file covers made from paper waste or recycled paper in radio, television.
-we can also promote our products through mails and on social medias.

Normal tap water contains unwanted substances that are harmful to the human body as well as the pipes and appliances it passes through. Therefore, it is important to filter these contaminants out of water before consumption. And this can be removed by water treatment systems.

These systems selectively get rid of the unwanted chemicals from water such as iron, chlorine, etc. Eliminating these elements also helps to avoid the stains and corrosion possibly formed due to these on appliances and pipes that the water passes through.



3) How would you market your business elsewhere?

I believe that the use of social media as a marketing tool is the newest wave to overtake the small business community. I would put together a functional company website. It attracts new customers and converts them to brand advocates.

1. Need of funds for the recycling unit. Estimation INR 4000000.
2.Need of a dedicated area ( min 1200 sq ft ).

2. How do you intend to address this problem?
The first problem can be solved if students , faculty members and people who are keen to solve the monetary aspect donate . Help from the government organizations can also be achieved.
The second problem can be solved by conducting an audit for area of the college.

3. How would you market your business elsewhere?
Once our primary problems are solved we can use the money generated from plastic pellets to setup more plants in such academic or industrial areas. The business can be promoted using social media to great extent.
