Term 1.1: This term we began our 'An Inspector Calls' coursework, part of the English Literature course. A mysterious inspector arrives at the Birling family home, uncovering secrets and challenging their actions, beliefs, and sense of responsibility, revealing how their choices impact others in this gripping, thought-provoking drama. We prepared for the coursework by reading the play together as a class, analyzing specific quotations from specific parts of the play and writing analytical paragraphs. Using the feedback we received on the paragraphs, we typed up our coursework on an online document.

Term 1.2: This term we began working on the skills for Q1 to Q5 of English Language Paper 1, focusing on being able to infer and analyse non-fictional seen extracts, as well as compare seen and unseen non-fictional extracts. We prepared for this by first learning the skills to Q1 to Q5, then using these skills in PPQs under time restrictions.

Grade comparisons: Last year in term 3, I got an M in English overall, as Literature and Language were not graded separately. My current grade in Literature is a 6- and my anticipated grade is a 7+, due to the limited content we have learnt so far. I do not currently have a grade in Language due to the fact that we have not been assessed on it yet.

Term 1: Since I am in set 1a for math, I will be taking my GCSE's this year rather than in year 11. Because of this, my class learns the content at an accelerated rate. This term, we began by recapping the units we had previously learnt, being unit 6 and 7. After this, we covered unit 8, 9 and most of unit 10. From these units, my favorite topics have been inverse functions, non-linear simultaneous equations, 3D trigonometry and histograms. At first I struggled with vectors and functions, but through practice, I have improved on how to answer these questions. In class, we often do PPQs, mostly from the second half of the paper as this is where most of the challenging questions are. We have used this term in order to prepare for our upcoming GCSE mocks, which will take place in January.

Grade comparisons: Last year in term 3, I got an 6-. My current grade in math is a 6+ and my anticipated grade is a 8, due to the fact that we have not yet completed the course.
