At the beginning of the story, Jason leads the Argonauts, Atalanta, Nestor, and Heracles to Colchis to find the Golden Fleece. If he does so, he becomes king. Once he arrives at Colchis, he speaks with the king, Aeetes, who has the golden fleece. Aeetes is unwilling to give up the fleece, so he puts Jason through terrifying tasks, in which he is bound to die. Aeetes daughter, Medea, tells Jason that he will die if he goes through with Aeetes plan. She gives Jason a vile that will protect him from anything the king throws at him. Miraculously, he survives the tasks, but Aeetes is still unwilling to give up the fleece. Jason has no choice but to steal the fleece, but there is a dragon protecting it. He jumps for the fleece and angers the dragon. Medea begins chanting a spell, and saves Jason. He grabs the fleece and they board back onto the boat. Aeetes tries to stop them, but they flee with the fleece before they can be stopped.

Symbols! Archetypes! (C.C)

Possible symbols,
The Argo: The Argo is their means of transportation, a ship. They are out at sea, the sea is known for many things, its incredible power, its danger. Its beauty and importance. The Argo is filled with many important heroes, including, Heracles (Hercules), Atlantis , a known heroine, and Nestor a king (not very well-know). So all of these characters are powerful, legends. And not all of their records are admirable, same as the ocean. Jason was known for Abandoning Medea, Hercules had his own sack of sins, and ect.
Character Archetypes are...
Jason: The hero, the leader, the righteous man
The argonauts: The loyal faithful, companions (like Jesus disciples)
King Aeetes: The antagonist, he wants the fleece to himself because he fears what would happen to him and his island if it leaves.
Medea: The sorceros, the romantic. She is willing to give everything up, her father, her home, her family for a chance at love. (Not that she succeeds) :( .

The theme of the myth (V.D)

The theme of the myth, "Jason and the Golden Fleece" is that your background doesn't need to have an impact of the decisions you make. This theme is placed when Medea chooses to help Jason and his crew escape with the golden fleece. A part of scene six is written as, "You must get the fleece and leave now." This shows that even though Medea was the daughter of Aeetes she believed that it was wrong for her father to slaughter the victors of the match that he arranged. While Jason and his crew had trouble believing Medea in the act that she might be lying to them, Medea's beliefs on what the right thing to do came from how she saw things, and while she grew up in a family surrounded by foul people, her beliefs are what set her apart from her family and background.

Connection to Modern Day Culture (E.S)

The myth "Jason and the Golden Fleece" has varies themes and messages that have influenced certain aspects of modern day culture. An example of this is that in the story, Jason and the Argonauts form of transportation at sea was called "The Argo" This ship was deemed to have been designed by Argus, with the aid of Athena. And it was made for Jason to go retrieve the Golden Fleece. This ship was made for battles that the Argonauts would encounter. Now in our modern day lives, there are not as many basic naval ships such as this. But there is a vehicle that dawns the same name "Argo" This is an all terrain vehicle, used to navigate through more treacherous land, as it was supposedly invented for in 1962. This vehicle is not a boat like the Greek "Argo" and it does not house fierce warriors. But it's robust appearance and use show the strength this vehicle is intended to have. They are trying to compare it to the mighty "Argo"
