one of Billies first recorded songs, featured on her debut EP. The lyrics of the song focus on mental health and wishing she wasn't who she is. The lyrics are dark and upsetting, surprising coming from a 16 year old who's talent is appreciated around the world. Billie struggling with her own star persona and representation of herself is reflected in her music and has become a part of her identity in itself - teen angst and confusion mixed with high levels of public exposure.

As Billie has only appeared as an a-list celebrity in the last three years, there is little academic writing about her star persona. I wanted to find something about how being a young star affects your career and identity. This article looks at child stardom and growing up in the limelight. Billie is now 18, making her no longer a child but much of her teen years were spent in pursuit of her music career, this article looks at how pubic perceptions of young people in the limelight can effect their own perceptions of themselves, as being young and famous becomes a defining factor.
