Alice Guy-Blanche
-For every film she made she didn't care about what critics thought about her movies she mainly focused on how the audience thought about them, this made changes in the film like instead of having her actors act the role they where giving she would tell them to act natural.
-Alice Guy-Blanche was the first woman director in the world, it doesn't say if she faced any controversy for this but the time she became this was the time women were thought to not be able to do guy jobs so i think she did it just that the article doesn't say anything about it.
-She was the first director to film in a narrative story telling way.
- A Fool and His Money

I guess something unique about his career and work is that he would often antagonize his actors as he was known to be demanding and directorial as a director.
2. He made films such as an adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth", there was also Merry-Go-Round, and probably his most famous being Greed. It was important because it was a detailed film about the novel McTeague by Frank Norris, it was a film he wanted to make for a long time.
3.

Between F.w. Murnau and Alice guy-Blanche there is not much controversy other than both breaking social norms. Given Maurnau sexuality he was forced to hide his true self for much of his life. On the other hand, Alice had broken many of the barriers that hindered women during this time period facing much criticism for moving up the ranks and taking positions that were male dominated. In contrast, Mabel Normand was very controversial throughout her career: she smoked, drank (mainly gin which was illegal at the time and received it from bootleggers), acted in a very socially unacceptable manner (for the time), was suspected of having a cocaine addiction, suspected of having multiple affairs, suspected of a murder, and suspected of a shooting.

During the silent film era movies were very presentational. What was on the screen did not matter so much as what was happening on screen which can be easily viewed in the usual styles actor's performed at the time. In addition, the fact silent films were not actually silent changes the experience and perspective on these films greatly. In terms of audio their language was that of music, maybe with some lyrics. Lastly, the progressive innovations in editing as time passed significantly changed the structure and our understanding of narrative films (and all of film really) as the order of how we viewed the story changed itself.

The language of the Silent Film era started off focused on narrative design to engage the viewer, rather than to astonish them. Although these films were categorized as "silent" films, they truly weren't. The only reason they were called silent films was because the technology to record synchronized sounds hadn’t been invented yet. In addition, in larger venues, full orchestras, bands, or organists accompanied these films (so they weren't totally silent). A lot of these films were bland and boring because they did complete scene followed by another complete scene (in completely linear fashion). However, as time has gone on, filmmakers have become more adept at telling stories by using shots and cuts. The film scene has become what it is today thanks to these improvements.
