They were attacked to the point were the governor of Arkansas called in an armed guard.

- this was the beginning of the desegregation of all schools across the nation.
-Orval Faubus was the governor of Arkansas, and called in the armed guard to try and stop the students from entering the school
-  Eisenhower sent in the army, and made them allow the Africans Americans to go, and without any violence
- The result was Little Rock completely closed some public hig schools, just to not allow African Americans to go there. Also, Congress passed lots of bills protecting African American rights.
- This was a very racist area, so if the government made them follow, may other places would follow suit.
