This is my little mini schnauzer Peach. I grew up with dogs and cats so having pets as family members has always been a huge part of my culture. She is the first pet that I have had as my own and not a family dog, and this has really taught me about the effort it takes to truly take care of another life. I love having a dog because she keeps me active both physically and mentally, makes me think about her needs above my own, and also provides love back to me.

Isabel

My fiance Isabel and I are set to be married this upcoming May. Part of my cultural identity is tied to my romantic relationship with her. This includes learning how to communicate with each other, understand each other, grow with each other, and take care of each other. I believe that my relationship that I have cultivated with Isabel is a key piece of my identity and I can't imagine life without her.

Golf + Sports

My entire life I have been passionate about sports. I grew up playing every sport possible and would often times have multiple games or practices of different sports on the same day. As I have gotten older, golf as come to the forefront since it is a little easier on my body, is a social game, and gets me outside. I love it for a variety of reasons: I get to play with friends or meet new people every time I play and the social aspect is huge for me since I am typically a very outgoing person. I love the constant tinkering and possibilities for improvement, I think having this mindset can translate into other areas of life as well. I love that there are courses around the world and I get to couple traveling with sport.

Camping + Hiking

Camping and hiking have always been a huge part of my life. I have photobooks from when I couldn't even walk yet of me with my parents around campfires, hiking, and just being outside in different environments. It is an activity that helps me reset from life and reconnect with myself and nature. I also have made friendships camping and hiking that have lasted for most of my life.

My family is extremely small and when my mother passed away in 2018, I became the primary care taker of my Japanese grandmother. I absolutely love spending time with her and the opportunities I get to do things for her. I think that even though some would view it as a burden, I have come to realize how much I can learn from her and from the experience of taking care of her. Learning more about Eastern vs Western cultures and ideas of family and taking care of the elderly has improved our relationship and I truly love this little lady.
