Sustainable Development Goal 8 emphasizes economic growth and decent work, which are the foundation of global sustainable development. The development it proposes is not limited to the improvement of economic numbers, but also involves whether people can obtain dignity, safety, and development opportunities through labor. When understanding this goal, it can be seen that it is not only related to macro level growth, but also closely related to individual quality of life and social equity.

The selected article titled 'Moral Leadership, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Corporate Performance: The Moderating Role of Economic Growth' was published in 2023 and has undergone peer review. Research has shown that ethical practices of corporate leaders can drive the fulfillment of social responsibility and be reflected in corporate performance. The stage of economic growth has an amplifying effect on this relationship. Based on Goal 8, if a company can truly take responsibility, it can create value in ensuring employee safety, compensation, and career development, thereby improving organizational performance. The empirical analysis in this article shows that when society is in a period of economic prosperity, this interactive relationship becomes more apparent. In this context, the emphasis on economic growth and high-quality work in Goal 8 is consistent.

Utilitarianism emphasizes the maximization of overall happiness. If placed in the context of Goal 8, the recruitment, training, and safety measures of enterprises can directly improve the quality of life of workers and expand the scope of economic activities. The pursuit of enterprises is not only the accumulation of profits, but also the creation of broader welfare at the social level. When enterprises expand their scale, the increase in household income and social vitality brought about by new employment can promote the achievement of Goal 8 in practice. This approach demonstrates the consistency between utilitarian principles and global development goals.

Deontology

Moralism focuses on moral obligations. According to this system, companies have a moral obligation to provide decent work, regardless of short-term costs. Ensuring fair working conditions, labor protection, and non discrimination is a moral obligation and the ethical foundation of the Sustainable Development Goal 8 "Decent Work" standard.

virtue ethics

Virtue ethics is about character. Leaders who embody virtues such as fairness and empathy create inclusive workplaces. Inclusive workplaces enhance employee loyalty and creativity, thereby driving productivity and economic growth, which are essential for Sustainable Development Goal 8 goals related to growth and work quality.

Moral flaws, such as exploitative employment practices, limit Sustainable Development Goal 8: they lower workers' morale, productivity, and confidence, thereby stifling economic growth. The magazine's research shows that corporate social responsibility and ethical leadership have reversed this situation - they have created decent employment opportunities and sustainable growth. For example, an ethics driven company may provide skill enhancement, increased productivity, and employee satisfaction to its employees, directly helping to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 8.

Sustainable Development Goal 8 is important for the world: people thrive in decent work; Australia and other countries rely on it to enhance competitiveness and move forward; It does not allow poverty and inequality on a global scale. Ethics - through theory, journal literature, and practice - is the central stage. Only by incorporating ethics into business practices and policies can we achieve the vision of Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work and sustainable development.
