         <description><![CDATA[<p>The "Who Helps the Helpers" article emphasized that having social and emotional learning built into a school's culture is a key element in helping support the maintenance of good mental health in school counselors. If this is not something that is prioritized in the school climate and culture, individually, we will have a harder time prioritizing it for ourselves. Having supportive work relationships that value self-care and good mental health are the foundation for ensuring we put ourselves first. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Although anyone can experience burn out and compassion fatigue, those in the helping profession are at a higher risk. If someone's mental health and self-care are constantly being sacrificed for the benefit of others, this can cause them to provide insufficient services that could lead to a lack of effectiveness in their ability to help others in the first place. We have to fill our cup before we can pour into others.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The personal self-care strategies that I plan to implement for myself are exercise, listening to music/alone time, and having adequate rest and sleep. Individually and or a combination of these strategies are what I plan to use to help me cope with any stress or overwhelming emotions that could effect my mental health and ability to help others. Being able to have time to "reset" is not always easy, but I know it is important for me. </p>]]></description>
