I'm fortunate enough to have food everyday.Some people around us are in hunger, and the stats is scary. So I decided to help out at North Texas Food Bank to eliminate hunger. What I did was food pantry packing. People pack different types of food into boxes, which will later be delivered to people who are in need. The boxes includes different kinds of daily supplies such as oatmeal, juice, milk, and much more. I worked 3 shifts, 8 hours. We packed around 5760 boxes every shift, which weighed 172,800 lbs. That was nearly 10,000 meals every shift. Most of the supplies and helps come from the community. People either donate money, food, or time. By working in the warehouse and pack food pantries, I know I helped a lot people out there. It's incredible that 3 hours of your time can eliminate hunger from hundreds, or even thousands of families. Everything's going at an extreme fast pace. Been able to keep up with other experienced volunteers was rough at first, but as soon as I got a hang of it I was able to perform just as well as others. By volunteering and helping out the community, I was able to keep a lot of families away from hunger, so they can do greater things in their life instead of worrying about what's the next meal.
