The cathedral of Notre-Dame d'Amiens is located in Amiens ,the capital of Somme, a French departament located in the region of Haute French. In its origins it corresponds to the church built by Saint Fermin of Basque origin who was beheaded in Amiens in the 3rd century. He was first evangelizer of this part of France. It was later replaced by a romasque church that perished in the flames in 1218.It was the time when the cathedral was ordered to the built and consecrated to the Virgin Maria in 1220 ,the works were completed in 1269 with the placement of the stained glass windows in the rose window. We are before the great apogee of Gothic art ,but despite this, only 50 years are used in its completion.
