Music videos mainly within certain genres such as Rap and Hip hop seem to always follow the same codes and conventions which advertises the 'rapper' lifestyle to younger people. This lifestyle normally consists of: gang Violence, drug use, expensive clothes, cars and accessories, women being seen and used as sexual objects and other anti-social behaviours. Younger people see this when they consume these types of music videos which inspires them to want to become their favourite rapper. Which isn't always good since the lifestyle that these music videos are promoting can be seen as negative due to the amount of gang violence, drug use and other anti-social behaviors being featured within these videos. Younger people see these actions being done in these videos and choose to copy them in real life which leads to negative effects.

I spoke to a group of people about my hypothesis and showcased the research that I have gathered in relation to the topic I am looking into. The feedback I got back from the group was pretty positive and I got some really helpful advice when looking into this topic, I was told that I could compare the influence rap music videos have on younger people and the influence of other genres can have on younger people and see the differences or similarities that they may have.

Throughout this project I researched the effect music videos can have on young people's behaviour and how certain themes within music videos can change a younger audiences idiologies and values as they aspire to live a similar life that these artists have. I think this went well and I learned a lot through the research that was conducted throughout this project, I was able to get my point across whilst using facts and articles to back up my hypothesis. If I was going to do this project again I would try get more primary research and get peoples opinion on the topic I am looking into. Overall I think the project went well and was able to produce a well informed essay with quotes and research to help back up the point and hypothesis I was trying to get across.

ABC news believe due to the subgenre of drill that there has been a growth in gang violence and other negative behavior going due to young audiences looking at the music videos and replicating the actions that they see these drill rappers doing within these videos.
BBC news also believe this as they think that these videos glamourize drug use and gang violence to young people which could lead to them copying the behaviors that they see within these types of music videos.
