This will get students talking about strategies and has a very high ceiling when talking about patterns of how you can determine the smallest number of moves required when increasing the number of disks in the problem.

Have the class pick a target number between 1-100. 

Then, write down the numbers 1-9 on the board. Ask students to choose 4 numbers from that list. 

Once their four numbers are chosen, tell them that their goal is to use their 4 numbers and any operations to create their target number.
