Please put your name. What kind of assessment did you do? Write a reflection on how it went. Things that went well, things that still needs to improve. Don't forget to put what kind of drink you would like at our December 7th meeting. :-)

I created a couple of tests for our 3rd grade PLC. I had also played around before I really knew what I was doing and created another test. I went in and activated all the tests without realizing it. I had the kids log in the last hour of the day. I have 8 iPads, so they took turns logging in and taking the tests. I tried to get them to put in the School City URL, but that was a mistake! They had a hard time. So next time I will direct them to the school district page. I really like these tests. The kids love to take them. I am going to try and give them a Language Arts test before break.
Skinny Vanilla Latte :-)

I've helped a couple of classrooms during their first School City assessments. The first group typed in the URL, which added difficulty. Once they were on the test it went smoothly. The second group followed the link on the DN homepage which helped speed up delays in getting everyone started. I wasn't completely happy with a question that had 3 parts on a 4th grade math assessment. The first part asked students to order numbers based on ticket price sales at various movie theaters. The students and I assumed that the blocks would be draggable to order them, but they weren't. I was clicking everywhere trying to "show" them how to do it. We finally figured out that each part was to be answered in the one box at the end of all 3 questions. The students surprised me by working right through it and even labeling their answer parts so the teacher wouldn't be confused while hand scoring.

I created an assessment on School City but was not successful in giving it to my students, as I discovered after the fact from Angie that I didn't activate it. lol Sooo....instead of this, I had my students log onto the caaspp site and they took a practice math test as a guest. Next time we will practice with their log-in info. All in all, it was successful. We had a discussion about not worrying so much about the math problems and that many would be difficult because we haven't covered it yet. I reinforced the fact that we were taking it to familiarize ourselves with the site; using the keyboard, using the tools, and overall navigation of it. They seemed comfortable with it. Doing it in the classroom with the Chromebooks was WAY easier than last year' in the lab! Directions able to be articulated/understood much easier in a smaller more contained setting.
Skinny Vanilla latte for me as well. Thank You! :)

I played around with making different reading assessments using School City's Item Bank. It reminds me a lot of Exam View. I liked being able to choose my standards and view the reading passage. I chose all multiple choice questions because I wanted students to get immediate feedback. I administered the assessment in the computer lab. The students were already familiar with the log in procedures because we did the first math online assessment in small groups with the Chromebooks. The students really liked getting immediate feedback on how they did. I plan on making more assessments in the future.

Regular Mocha for me.

I had students log into the CAASP site as guests after trying unsuccessfully to creat an assessment on School City. We practiced briefly a math test and a LA assessment. It took awhile to get them in because it was their first time trying this. I would like to try creating an assessment again. I'll give it one more try before break. I still hav a student that cannot log in to School City which is frustrating.

nonfat hot chai tea please

We had students log in to the School City site to take the subtraction assessment that Angie created. It was easier this time, but we still ran into a few snags. Some of the students hadn't saved the site to their home screen, so we had to go find the link again. Luckily you (Angie) give us great notes and we were able to quickly find the link through one of your emails. We also had a few students that were kicked out of the test, either because they accidentally clicked on a different tab, or the internet cut out momentarily. We were all frustrated because there was no way for them to take the test. We love that there is immediate feedback from the School City assessments, but found the short response questions were un-scorable. We went to the tab to score and clicked on the subtraction assessment, but there was no data.

Skinny Vanilla-Tracy
Steamed Apple Juice- Deja

Our class has taken the two School City assessments that Angie created for our grade level. Students love the immediate feedback and are learning to check their answers before being so quick to submit them. I'd dabbled in creating a School City assessment on my own but have not completed one as of yet. My goal is to do that prior to Winter Break along with my Google Classroom which we haven't used yet this year.

Non-fat vanilla chai please. We did one whole class and one in table groups. They did a great job of navigating the site and a scary job of answering the questions.

Keeping it short and sweet was key. I realize I need to carve out time to play with it.
Sugar free fat free almond joy blended no coffee.

I trained students to log kids on the first time we did school city. Went smoothly. I helped them this time....not so smoothly. I forgot how, kids forgot how. I don't know why I didn't anticipate that. I did add school city onto the main page of the ipads. That will help considerably for next time. Some kids ran out of time and I discovered that I can go back in and activate them again from the computer. The kids like taking tests for the immediate feedback and I like it as well. I just need more practice. No drink for me, but thanks anyway.

I had my students log in for both the School City assessments that Angie created. The first time we did this I pulled 4 students at a time and taught them their gmail address and password. They wrote them on note cards to keep with them. They logged on to School City and took the first assessment with my assistance. The second time we took the assessment, I had School City set up as a rotation station. We had already been practicing logging on to Google Classroom and Gmail. They were all able to log on to School City with little help from me. I had a few "experts" assigned to help with those who got lost. I noticed that they did better on the second assessment. I also noted that they respond favorably to the immediate feedback of the assessment. There were a few students who insisted on checking their work before submitting.

Chai tea pleas :-)
