Our brains look for symetry and facial/body gratification. We want what apleases the brain and we want what's best for our offspring. If the body type is ideal for the brain, we tend to choose that person over another. This is a very primitive "check & balance" for the brain (National Geographic, 2015)

First impressions are what the brain remembers Especially if the brain classifies the first impression a gratifying (Nevid, 2012).

How a person's brain is configured deermines what is attractive and what is not. There is no such thing as "matters of the heart." Symetry and body composition (for child bearing) plays an important part (National Geographic 2015).

Society and media play a large part with what we (western society) consider attractive (Nevid, 2012). Since a large percentage of people have the same taste in what is consider attractive, media capitalizes by places models on our screen deeming them the "it" feature.
