The first song used classical instruments in a way that had never been done before. The composition had no defined structure which only speaks to the feeling of freedom when listening to it. 
The second song had minor chords that struck major feelings of melancholy in the listener. I think other people should get to synthesize with this music if they want to know how the 1920's were like, and not too different from now as this is how pop music originated from. They will know that the purpose of writing these songs is by sending a message and importance of it's trying to say, like the first one was the easiest route to get by, and the 2nd one how the South is sad now.
