4000 words is the maximum you can include in your learning portfolio so you are not expected to include exactly 4000. Howeverake use if the available word count to provide evidence that you have achieved the assessment criteria. Words in the reference list, models and properly used tables are not included in the word count.

If you can pick a specific real company to propose as a partner then you can do so. However, it is fine to describe the profile of a partner in terms of what you need for your business model. You should also include this detail for a named partner along with all the rationale for specific partnering decisions.

In terms of writing a literature informed account of your business model in log 2, you can draw on any theory which you think you can usefully use to generate your ideas and support you decisions.

Drawing on the module reading list is an important start but, I we have said in the taught sessions, many other potential areas of theory are implied, eg relationship marketing, channel management, segmentation. This approach is described in the wider brief of the project task and reflected in the assessment criteria.

Regards
Jameson

Buyer Utility

In the way we have discussed things during the module, buyer utility more naturally fits in log 2. This is because we have talked about developing the value innovation described in your poster presentation into a more concrete value proposition for the business model. The utility generation templates relate to the value proposition of the business model. However, there is some interchangeability of terms here. Don't get too bogged down in simply trying to say the write words in the write places. Write good logs which evidence the assessment criteria.

Regards
Jameson

Word count distribution across logs 1 and 2

Yes, there should be some close connections between logs 1 and 2 and you can distribute the word count to emphasise detail where you think it needs to be considered. However, logs 1 and 2 are designed to reflect a stage of progression in your project which it is useful to recognise. The connection is that in log 1 you are focusing on challenging red ocean assumptions and trying to demonstrate that you can identify uncontested market space (Blue Ocean). The move to log 2 can be used to show how you take this somewhat abstracted view of a new market and initial new product/service proposal and turn it into a more concrete market proposition which can be made a reality for consumers by way of a well considered business model.

The key thing, however, is to clearly show evidence for the assessment criteria somewhere in the word count. During marking we will look for the evidence. Try to make it easy to find.

Regards
Jameson
