Below is a list of members on the TAVR Task Force Committee, and the strengths they each bring to the group.
Alice the achiever - Alice is our group leader, and will report out information on our innovation to facility leadership. She is a fearless, productive team member who will go above and beyond to make sure our committee is successful.
Disciplined Daniel - Daniel will ensure that our overall goal of implementing the Evolut Pro+ is achieved in a systematic, streamlined way. He will ensure our meeting objectives are covered thoroughly.
Rose the relator - Rose is well known and friendly, and also involved on other committees in the facility. She will be a great resource in identifying any key stakeholders and ensuring our committee is well supported.
Abraham the arranger - Abraham will assist in scheduling our committee meetings, and keep record of our minutes, progress, and on-going projects. He will make sure the group stay organized to meet our end goal.
Louis the learner - Louis brings the excitement and passion for the current innovation. He is eager to learn and share why the Evolut Pro+ is worth the investment, and will continuously challenge our committee to seek the best technology for our patients.

The TAVR has been offered as an alternative to traditional aortic valve replacement since 2002, with indications expanding to now include all categories of surgical risk stratification (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2019). As of August 2019, the newest technology in transcatheter valve therapy approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is Medtronic's Evolut Pro+ system (2019). The Evolut Pro+ is built on the unique design of the supra-annular, self-expanding valve, with the addition of a porcine pericardial tissue wrap to treat the broadest range of valve annulus sizes (Randall & Bavry, 2020). Replacing the valve in a less invasive way provides patients with options for treatment. In my opinion, it is important that providers present patients with all the options for treatment and rely on the patient's preference in the decision making process regarding the type of valve replacement. The pro of shorter time of recovery translates to a shorter interruption of daily life and a quicker return to an active lifestyle, and in my opinion is worth the risk for potential pacemaker implantation. While the TAVR is much more expensive than SAVR, the anesthesia time and length of stay is significantly less, and can lead to decreased cost associated with the impatient stay.
