WEEK 2
1. What was something new or thought about in a different way that you learned this week and why?
This week we looked at the social contagion theory and I never really thought about how someone you don't even know can have an impact on your life. We are truly all connected in this world and people don't realize how we can truly connect to one another without even realizing it.
2.Based on best practices, how can you apply what you know in you career choice as a Health Promotion Manager?
I can use best practices to help show people the truth behind what I am trying to help them accomplish in their health and well being.
3. What do you want to learn more about, and why?
I want to learn more about how not only the environment we live in, or the people we associate with that influence our lives, but also how the whole world of social interaction and social media is influencing people's daily lives and effecting their health and well being.

WEEK 3
1. What made you curious this week.
While going through our brain storming activity in class I found myself writing down a lot of words having to do with self esteem and people having the confidence to be themselves. I think in our society today with all of the social media it can be a challenge for people to try and live up to certain expectations based on what is on social media. I think it doesn't allow people to be themselves and this can create self esteem issues and I want to look more into this topic.
2. . What about your thinking, learning, or work this week brought you the most satisfaction? Why?
This week while starting to think about genius hour and doing the brainstorming activity, I actually started to think about myself in the same situation. I looked at myself to see if I am in someway being influenced by social media and what society thinks I should do. I looked at myself and thought if I am who I want to be and if I'm confident to express that.
3. How did you help the class learn this week? If you feel you didn't add to class or feel the need to contribute more consider what can you do next week to help other learners more?
I think that I helped contribute during the social contagion theory discussion, but I think that I can try and join in more on the discussion in class. I noticed I had a lot of similar views as other students in class and I can help contribute more to the conversation.

Ideas can change the world, but only when coupled with influence - the ability to change hearts, minds, and behavior.

Muhammud Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Winner.

1. How can you interpret the information presented so far in the Influencer book to reflect on this statement? What principles help you agree or disagree with the statement?

I agree that ideas can change the world, but yu need to influence others around you to fully make a change. Just like we learned, you need to influence people in the personal, social, and environmental aspects of their lives because this is where they are influenced. If you can change what is influencing them, then you can change the world.
2. What is your vision of wellness using the principals promoted in Workplace Wellness that Works book? Use Putnam's to imagine what is possible to create an innovative wellness program.

I think that Putnam is write in saying we need t make the workplace a place where people come together and care about what they are doing. They need to be able to communicate and find joy and purpose in the workplace. If you wake up and find meaning in what you will do during the day then it can only further fulfill your life and help your workplace excel.

WEEK 5

1. Can you identify one way all the material we have covered (through Wed. Feb. 20) links together in a best, promising, or emerging practice methodology?

I think that everything we learned can be used not only in the workplace but in every area of our lives. We learned that people can be influenced even by people they don't know. So why can't we be the ones to influence them? We can use the the three keys to influence to influence people at work, at home, on the street and anywhere we go. If you can influence even one person they can influence another and so on. We need to look at not only implementing health in wellness in the workplace but in the lives people live outside of work and we can start that change by becoming an influencer.

WEEK 6:

First: How can you use the six sources of influence to create your solution to this problem? Be specific

I think that we can use social media not only to influence the social aspects of people's lives but also through the personal and environmental aspects. If people can connect and understand each other I think they will see that if others are going through the same thing that they can get through it too. This can be personally motivating knowing they are not alone. Also this community created online can influence others to change their own environment and change others around them as well.

Second: What information to date has been covered in the Putnam book that can help guide your in group's investigation into your topic?

I think that looking at cultural change can definitely help. If we can change the culture of social media and make it more positive we can change a lot of people's lives.

WEEK 7:
Why do I/we want to be an Influencer?” and “Who do I/we want to influence?

I think that being college students we can easily relate to other college students because we have similar experiences and may have personally gone through mental health issues. Or maybe we know people personally that have dealt with these issues. We want to truly help others and in our society today social media is one of the biggest influencers in people's lives. So why no use social media as an influencer in a positive way to help people.

How would you use Putnam's ideas of "Creating Meaning" for the population you are targeting in the topic for your Genius hour? As the opening states, we have to help them know their "WHY."
Social media is such a big part of people's lives today and we know that it can be a big influence in people's lives. Mental health among college students can be a big issue and being able to turn to social media since it is already a big part of their life can be life changing. We can use social media as a tool for students to interact and see that they are not alone.

Week 12:

Week 13:
1. Focus and Measure - reflect on this concept and think about what you are really wanting to change and how would you measure that change and show success?

We want social media to be a positive influence in college student's lives and help them improve their mental health. We want to measure and show this through our facebook page where students can become comfortable talking about their problems and struggles and get the help they need.

2. Find Vital Behaviors - reflect and select the one or two vital behaviors that are really driving the problem you are addressing. What are the MOST IMPORTANT one(s) to address?
One vital behavior that people struggle with is vulnerability. People are afraid to be vulnerable and admit that they are depressed or sad or struggling through something. Especially on social media people post about how great their lives are and not a lot about the bad stuff. If we can get people to be comfortable with admitting their true emotions hopefully they can receive help and support from others.

3. Engage all Six Sources of Influence - reflect on the six sources of influence and think about your strategy and methods. How would you plan to diffuse these into your project so you actually make a difference?

I think that our tool box really focuses on the social aspect of peoples lives and their personal aspect but if we can help influence others through their environment I think we could really be able to make a difference. If we can through the use of social media help others to change their environment as well then they can continue to help themselves outside of just social media.
