The  inability to distinguish between one own's perspective and someone else's perspective

Ask the word itself has a clue, " ego" ; everything is about themselves. A Child between 2-4 will have a hard time understand other points of view and how it may affect others or simply how different the situation or setting might be. At this point it is all about what they see in their world. When they play hide-and-go-seek or peek-a-boo, they are games that are able to teach us and show us that f the child can not see that body part or face, then it is completely gone.

A classical test from Piaget is the 
" Beaker task" that Piaget, has allowed us to use for ourselves. A Child between 2-4 still will not be capable of knowing the differences between matter and volume.  The cups or beakers used made be different shapes and different in height but will be able to hold the same amount of liquid. An adult will be able to recognize that only the cup or beaker has changed but to the children , the amount of liquid has changed.

Everything is self centered around them and in their eyes and in their head, this makes them who they are. Which is cool to understand that they do not understand that those things are necessarily and a physical part of them.
