• British led a two-pronged attack on militia forces at the Rahway River, but was defeated by the militia under Nathaniel Greene.
• The militia also helped control the large Tory population by enforcing “treason acts.”
•Israel Angell helped Nathanael Greene hold off the British. 
  •His Rhode Island regiment inflicted heavy casualties upon the British forces
•British Burned all but four houses
